This music was amazing in every sense of the word. I was super hype, even excited when I heard it. This is the peak of genshin music. That said there are a few errors you notice as a swahili speaker. The translations aren't that good tbh. The grammer Is all over the place and the words don't match up. "Maisha marefu" doesn't mean eternity, but rather a long life etc However, the music is amazing in its own right. Swahili itself has this character whereby it fits as an anthem sort of song. It's beautiful to hear in an orchestral set up. This language won a Grammyin video game music for civ4 and they deserve a win for this one as well. I never expected genshin to surpass sumeru in music, but they did it and I'm here for it

That’s a super insightful take! I speak Japanese near fluency, it’s what my degree is in- and I notice with subtitles they often use loose translation to make the English flow better together, so I wonder (for benefit of doubt) if that’s why there are some errors? Moreover, I wonder if that discrepancy is intended? Either way thank you for sharing, genuinely! ❤️

@@Yagissu I would say that loose translation describes alot in this song. But in others its mostly an incorrect translation. Some words here don't exist in the swahili language. Swahili is quite interesting in that one word can translate to a whole sentence in English which is quite fascinating. Each word also has alot of syllables hence giving alot of freedom in terms of time signatures etc. I don't really know about how translation works in music as much, but it's hard ro believe that they can use a sentence that doesn't make sense in the language where they can use an alternative that presents the meaning properly. One case is the one I gave. Instead of "maisha marefu", they should have used "maisha ya milele" because that latter means eternal life or eternity while the former refers to a long life. There are a few more examples too. The replacements fit the melody as well, since swahili has alot of freedom in that area. You can draw out one syllables for a long time, but also say it quickly. There are instances whereby they've used loose translations(ungua for burning, mwanga for fire etc. These have been loosely translated, but the meaning retained) and different points where they've used inaccurate ones. It's kind of very jarring at times. But I'm not experienced in this field, so I can't say much here. But either way thanks for your response.
