i think that it's easy to dupe but i think the beauty of palettes is the creativity creating color stories which i usually don't come up with

As someone who only really got into makeup during a college slump 2 years back, I don't have any of the colorful palettes that you're taking for granted. I only recently started getting enough money in my savings to feel good about spending money on makeup. The undergrowth palette fulfills all my needs for greens and fun shimmers. The size of it helps as well because I don't have a lot to start with and having something more comprehensive in it's color range makes me feel better about dropping money on it because I know that I have some holes in my collection. I really appreciate your content, thank you for the videos!

Thanks so much for this sweet comment! I don't mean to make anyone feel bad for liking a palette I might talk against. I am excited that you like the Undergrowth palette. I love Cosmic Brushes as a brand, great quality for a super affordable price.The indie makeup community is full of hoarders (myself being one) and I only want to bring attention to the fact that we (who have a lot of makeup) don't need to buy or own everything because that will likely duplicate a lot of what we already have! I also feel like it has been normalized to have 300 eyeshadow palettes, but no one can even realistically use that much makeup!

I feel the same about duping the vibes of a palette. Not every shade has to be an exact dupe to create the same effect. I have 91 shadows and I feel like I can recreate any look I see (except for multichromes, I only own a few). I might not be able to build a palette that looks like a dupe, but I can always mix shades to create the same effect on the eyes. I feel like people with lower contrast in their features tend to enjoy having a lot of slightly different shades to chose from. But I'm also high-contrast and I'd rather have a wide spectrum of colors (and mix inbetween shades if necessary) instead of having a massive gradient of slightly different colors. That's why palettes like Undergrowth don't appeal to me, some of the shades in the palette look too similar, it would be more appealing if it was smaller or had a few more shades that contrast with the green/brown/orange color story.

Hello there, how are you? Totally agree. The whole point of duping is to not have to buy more things, so you should be free to do what you want. I have had comments where people said "this is not a dupe" but in reality I don't think anyone can see the difference on my eyes. Thanks for the comment about less contrast. I am not a makeup artist, but I come to this from an arts background, so I am still learning about what works for other people :-)

Can you dupe the Vamp palette?! Those shimmers are gorgeous, and are so tempting, so would've loved a video around it, that is not promoting to buy it🙈🙃

@@colorfultales Amazing! BTW, if the mattes from odens eye you have tried, are from the Red Dragon, Giant Wolves and Hummingbird collection, I just want to mention that it has improved since then. I agree with you that the mattes were to dry. Their newer formula is a lot better, therefore it keeps up with their shimmers more!🥰 Of course, don't buy if nothing interest you, but just letting you know, if you ever see something you really like to try.🥰 Plus, if you like colorful and glittery highlighters, theirs looks amazing! (Although I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't, since most people don't like those types of highlighters today😅)

I'm a little confused. Isn't the no-makeup makeup look (and the palettes to achieve it) naturally lighter tones? I personally am way too old to wear eye colors that are so dark they make me look like a chipmunk. I prefer the palest of pale colors to subtly enhance without noticing weird colors that make me look like I got beat up. I'm glad we have at least one palette that allows us to indulge ourselves.

I love the Undergrowth palette. I like their price, the size and find it visually appealing. I don’t buy from Beauty Bay and I dislike Colourpop .

Thank you for your comment. I definitely love Cosmic Brushes quality and price. These videos are a response to the consumerism in the makeup industry so they are a bit hyperbolic, I am not intending to make anyone feel bad for liking these products :-) We don't all love the same things
