This route took me back to 1997/8 when I travelled to Murren from Zurich Airport for the first time. Back then the coaches were green and had drop opening windows, the toilet a hole in the floor. Did see the Red Crocodile on the way back though. In 2017 was on the new route - Double decker from Zurich Flughafen (they are so cosy and not sure why they would not work in the UK) to Bern and EuroTrain coach to Interlaken, the return train was heading to Hamburg from Milano - a route that does not run anymore.
@AVirtualDuck9 ай бұрын
The loading guage in the UK precludes double decker trains on all lines (that is, tunnels and bridges are too low or too thin). The UK loading gauge is smaller than the European gauge, which is also why UK trains are tucked in at the bottom rather than equally wide.

Thankyou RE for yet another great trip, and in contrasting weather. I'm just amazed at the awesome complexity of Zurich Hbf: crossovers, flyovers, dives. Impossible without computer control. I can't recall where, but i was amused to see a red car sitting on a roof, to the right, just past a run-through station, somewhere about halfway through.

A great cab ride from Zurich to Bern . I think some people take the IC1 or 8 than this service as they are quick between Zurich and Bern .
Very nice video, screen and sound, I like :-) It´s very interesting watch how changed old main line area(country land/stops/stations), after 25-30 or 40years. I saw the same kind of videos from IC Zurich - Bern from 80´s + 90´s.What is this new building near 18D platform? Fashion brand store/storage/offices? 5:25 big traffic in Altstetten(IR, s-bahn or REX, ICE4). Mattstetten exit again ICE4 Zurich direction(after 1hour). Why is still behind Eppenberg t.exit speed restriction 125(very short part)? Valid for fernverkehr or only 4 some days/seasons etc? Restriction is here from tunnel opening....strange. Mägenwil (güter exit) construction work continued, and of course Wankdorf overthrust....good to see progress. Hindelbank new and longer platforms, nice :-) Grauholztunnel look very clean....are they cleaned him? :-D

59:55, the low fence that is erected to prevent the cows from wandering onto the railway track seem to have open ends toward the corners. If that is the case, it is quite dangerous for the cows as well as the train. I hope I'm wrong about my observation.

You must know this line pretty well are the trains that run on this line quite modern? .
@wildcraftone3 жыл бұрын
@@jeromebano1125 I mean all Swiss trains are modern I would say. However the IR35 runs a blend of STADLER FLIRT’s and older IC2000 train sets. Occasionally they’ll put on their newest Bombardier Twindex on this line. I personally prefer the IR17 from Bern to Olten. They run STADLER FLIRT’s exclusively on that line, but I feel the fit and finish are better on the newer BLS trains vs. the current gen SBB trains. The SBB also recently removed all of the trash cans at the seats for 2nd class passenger carriages. First class still has this.

Nice cab ride and interesting in a rather pleasant day (sun and little fog). If in the totally old route (Bern/Zurich) 1h15 55 sec are necessary, which time using the new route (Bern/Olten) + old route (Olten/Zurich) are obtained in the same train that this used in this cab ride ? Thank you in advance for your comments.

@janikvonniederhausern52713 жыл бұрын

You have a knack of finding a timely theme to post, thanks for yet another winner - Eppenbergtunnel looking mighty fine! Any idea what was being repaired on your usual track through Dietikon? Also IIRC this run is effectively half of the forthcoming Aare Linth service - does that mean you might soon get some driving time on a Traverso or are SOB keeping those jobs for their own staff? Thanks again! \m/
@RailwayEmotions3 жыл бұрын
Dietikon is currently receiving a new underpass under the rails. And yes, it is part of the future IR35 from Bern to Chur. All trains between Zurich and Bern will be driven by SBB staff exclusively.
