When I first got into fragrances I watched this video... I had an idea in my head that to get a good fragrance you have to spend at least £50 quid plus... Now that I have been in the fragrance game for a couple of months, and smelt over 100 fragrances ranging from £20 to £500 fragrances I came to this conclusion. MONEY DOES NOT MATTER, You smell nice, dress nice... you will get compliments. For E,G I get more compliments wearing a Versace Fragrance that costed me £50 quid for 100ml. I rarely get complimented when I wear Roja Fetish. So Conclusion.. Just buy a fragrance you LOVE and is UNIQUE TO YOU... She does bring up a good point in where she explains that a million other men wear one million, issey miyake, jean paul gautier e,t,c.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with 90% of the stuff she said. Not always cheap colognes smell cheap. Also testing fragrances on paper is not good enough.

I own several Creed perfumes, Parfums de Marly Herod and official samples of virtually every male Amouage fragrance. Of course these scents have superior quality. But I don't agree with her statement about 'cheap = bad.' That's baloney. Nautica Voyage is my gym scent, and I get a lot of female attention. If Midnight In Paris by Van Cleef & Arpels was marketed by Amouage, it would sell for 200 euro per bottle. Yet I bought it for less than 30 euro. Avant Garde by Lanvin is a rich smelling scent as well, and very seductive. Or what about Lalique Encre Noire? Regarding Grey Vetiver: I like vetiver scents like Mugler Cologne, Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisée, and Terre d'Hermes Parfum much more. In my personal top 10, only the niche scents Creed Aventus and Parfums de Marly Herod would get a spot.

Very informative. Thanks for your advice and insight on mens fragrances. I am somewhat of a fragrance fanatic as my wife would say. I have no less than 50 different scents in my arsenal at one time. I know, that is a bit in excess, but I truly can't help myself sometimes. I do agree with you 100% that you cannot go cheap when it comes to fragrance purchase. I have found out through the years that when you spend a bit more, you get a bit more in terms of quality. Never skimp, ever.

I am a fragrance nut, and in all honesty, Cool Water is very similar. It basically smells like GIT but with watery caloney notes added and almost like it was made into a laundry detergent smell. Definitely cheaper smelling, but VERY similar. However, with that said I don't care for either of them. I would much prefer to have a bottle of Aventus or Millesime Imperial over GIT.

4 interesting facts in this video: 1) cheap perfume smells nasty/expensive perfume smells better than cheap. 2) You should always test perfume on a piece of paper. 3)With department store designer perfumes, the last thing they think about is the perfume. 4)John F Kennedy wore Green Irish Tweed.

I live in the capital of Norway, and the stupid thing is that there are no real perfume-shops here :( only perfume-shops in supermarkets and they sell designer-fragrances (and I never buy my fragrances from the internet, because I'm afraid I won't get the real stuff). I am a collector so I have now around 32 different fragrances ;) But I only buy fragrances that suits me, and remind me of a wonderful holiday-memory.

***** Nautica Voyage is less than $15.00 for 100ml and is still one the best and most complimented fragrances out there. After that many highly rated scents range from $50 to $80. Her Tom Ford and Creed recommendations will run you $250 to $400 for a 100ml bottle. Yikes!!!

I think there is a fallacy that the more expensive the fragrance is the better it is. There are still fragrances today cheap as they may but of GOOD QUALITY. Fragrances as well reacts differently depending on skin type so never rely on how it smells like on paper.
@AndrewBuckScentrist11 жыл бұрын
Bloody hell, there's quite a bit of misinformation here that I barely know where to start. Her comments on Creed GIT are rubbish (do they check facts at all), and while coffee beans are commonly used to clear the nose, a fresh clean linen cloth is better. Plus, you need to go further than just paper blotters since skin chemistry plays a crucial role, and not all "expensive" fragrances are better (many are simply more expensive). And please don't get me started on the overuse of makeup.
@dantealighieri126511 жыл бұрын
i have to disagree. Cheap doesn't mean automatically bad. There are a lot inexpensive fragrances that have great quality. For example Creed's Original Santal is a expensive copy of MontBlanc's Individuel and still many people consider Invividuel to be the better one. Creed has good fragrances, no doubt about that but in my opinion they're overpriced. I believe also the most stories about the famous customers are just made up by Creed for marketing reasons.

Le Male is overused, worn by pretty much everyone i know because it's "popular", i wouldn't recommend it. If i would recommend any fragrance, it would be Lacôste Hypnôse Homme. I've used Fahrenheit since early 90's, just started using Hypnôse. I have a bottle of Old English Leather incoming, and a bottle of Bridgetown. But if you want to smell like everyone else and have no personal fragrance, use Le Male.

no offense but thats condescending pro natural non sense, besides who wants to spend 100 dollars on 50ml of liquid honnestly i dont care how bloody natural something claims to be first because its not even legal to create real amber so, it anyhow never justifies an exaggerated and prohibitive price if ithe cost of production is going to be to exaggerated for average income people then synthetics is good enough, and people int o luxury are condescending and usually very repulsive people

Kennedy wore a Vetiver based scent made for him by Creed; not GIT which was released in 85 as mentioned below by Scentpede. GIT and the rest of Creed fragrances are excellent and contain more natural raw ingredients vs designer synthetics. I do enjoy Chanel and Dior, on the other hand; even Issey Miyake which when I first put my nose on IM women scent in 94, I was blown away. The men's is not as enchanting, nor "bliss" as the women's IM perfume. In any case, this woman makes a lot of sense about scents, ha ha.
@VikingShaver11 жыл бұрын
How the hell can JFK have worn GIT, when GIT was released in 1985 ? This lady reveals she us NOT a frag head. Also you NEVER EVER test fragrances on paper. Only on skin. But hey, I'm a fragead. She's certainly not. Cheers/Claus from Denmark

ugh this woman is full of contradictions and just a snob who acts all high class. She's forgetting the fact that fragrance smells different on everyone due to their own body's chemistry so two people can wear the same fragrance and still smell different, a connoisseur like herself would be able to detect that and the whole buying niche brands is rubbish as not all care about high quality and sometimes you pay for the in store experience and some cheap fragrances are staples on a lot of top fragrance list like Old Spice. Wear and buy what you like, if that woman (like her) doesn't appreciate it then you dodged a bullet because she might want you to buy her a tiny 1 oz bottle of "high quality" fragrance. I've worn cheap generic fragrances that got loads of compliments and got none when I wore my high quality perfume oils.

This comment is hilarious, and points to the utter pretentiousness and breathless ignorance of this 'beauty expert'. If perfume doesn't make you feel good, it's useless, regardless of the price tag. To make price a sole determining factor is the sure sign of someone who has lost the reason for wearing fragrance in the first place - to have fun.
