It hit me when I was watching another influencer (who has super dry skin) talk about how she has to keep powder with her now because all of the products are so dewy that they shift and break apart. I think in editorial settings super glossy skin looks great, but if you are just a normal person who has to get through a Target run without your foundation oozing onto the floor it's not what's up.

I can't stand hair parting to the middle as a trend. Why is the way someone parts their hair a trend? Some people have a partial side part or flipped to one side. So weird that it was made to be "outdated". Changing your hair part permanently requires practice and hair training to stay put and then you'd have to get a whole new hair cut so it's not uneven. Some people look like nerds with a center part. I just don't get why physical things like our body type or hair type or how our hair lays is considered "trendy" or "outdated". 👎

there are actually some pretty big issues with the “clean girl” look. (not the aesthetic itself- I love how it looks but) 1. as abbey said, the marketing of clean implies that there is something that’s dirty. Ppl who do a full face of glam are not dirty nor are ppl who don’t wear makeup at all either. also related is how the ppl who do this trend all seem to have perfect skin, I’ve heard ppl w acne say they feel like they can’t participate in this and again this implies ppl with acne are “dirty.” 2. The “clean girl look” has actually BEEN done by black/brown people for many years (slicked back hair, gold hoops, glossy full lips, etc) and has only NOW gone viral bc white ppl decided it was cool. Going back to the first point, this also is implying white people are “cleaner” than POC considering the history. So I have a huge problem w the clean girl trend (if u do this look urself u r fine lol but I’m just talking about the whole marketing of this trend in general)

I just like that it works well for natural blondes (I do wear mascara with it lol) and that it's fairly low maintenance. I have sort of average size white girl lips too but I still think it looks nice (I think my brows are only a little fuller than yours but I fluff em up with clear gel). It's the simplicity of it I love-- I mean if i'm being honest it's probably just the concert of 1) I suck at eyeshadow and 2) have always wanted to be a surfer.

That is the beauty of trends. You can pick and choose which ones you want to participate in and let others enjoy what they like. Some of the trends mentioned like the “clean girl” is just a GenZ repackaging of the minimalist or no-makeup-makeup. Just like the “dewy” look is another take on “strobing.” While they may come across as trends they’re actually staple makeup routines that have been around for forever. Just a different name with maybe an added step/twist. We see it in fashion, as well. Everything gets recycled and rebranded to make the consumer buy the shiny new thing. Just find what works for you and your taste.
@thepicklegambit2 жыл бұрын
This is exactly my viewpoint as well. At the end of the day, everything is just buzzwords. “Clean girl” is just “no makeup makeup look” revamped. Trends reinvent themselves, but they’re typically the same thing they’ve always been. Just a new buzzword.

The foundation in a jar trend is the equivalent to the serum with a dropper bottle trend that has also gone wild over the last few years. I think it’s just coming down to brands cheapening out on packaging at our expense. I’ll gladly pay a few extra dollars for a pump.

As someone who has naturally quite dry skin, I'm so happy to see more dewy products and am really excited to see more brands go in this kind of direction. I personally am really excited about seeing more cream products, particularly foundation. That said, I completely understand how it's not for everyone. I feel like this was such a gap in the market, but I don't think it should be the only options. I dread the day when trends swing back in the direction of all matte everything just because it'll make it that much more difficult to find formulations that work for me. So I can absolutely see how the reverse would be true for someone with oily skin. I've always preferred more of a glow and I know I will continue to even after it's not in fashion. I think what's most fashionable is doing what works best for each of us. Everyone should be equal in beauty and everyone should be able to have their needs met--there is space for us all.

Hi I think some of these are skin type specific. I have super dry/mature skin and love a more glowy look. I also like cream foundations - they tend to work better on dry skin, if they contain a decent amount of oils etc. A minimal makeup look is never a bad thing and is better in my life than a super heavy instagram look. I have always loved eyeliner for adding a pop of colour to a more neutral look - who knew I'd be trendy lol. I think with any bunch of trends we all pick and choose what suits our skin and our lifestyle. Photographs and short videos do not represent what makeup looks like in real life, nor how it performs over the course of a day. Most of us have a look we're happy with and small tweaks here and there can make life interesting. A super glossy lip is not a good mix with masks for instance lol. Best wishes.

I love the way it looks, and in fact that's normally the makeup look I go for (I was doing minimal makeup before it was even a trend), but why did they have to call it "clean girl"? Exactly. I honestly think we’re overthinking the word “clean” a bit. It doesn’t have to imply at all that those who don’t prefer this look/trend are dirty or gross. It’s just a word. And honestly, it’s pretty much the same thing as the “no makeup makeup look.” All we’ve done is pretty much slapped a new label or name on an already existing minimal look. Lip fillers and fake freckles looks absolutely awful on everyone IMO 🤯. Everyone seems to think that they look so natural in these trends and none -none- NONE of them do.

Have you been curling your hair differently/if not do you have a tutorial? Your wave/curls look 👌👌👌

I soak my hair, then Olaplex 3 and then a plastic cap. So the hair doesn’t dry and it works for longer.

I agree with with you about these trends....both good & gotta go...lol! I'm all about my face mists nowadays. I'm just obsessed with skincare in general. Xoxo ❤️ 😘 🤗

That’s been my fav as of lately too. May I ask what face mists your loving since you’re into skincare I am curious which ones you’ve been loving the most. I am currently looking for some for my sensitive and on the drier skin side.

I have skin dryer than the sahara.. could never get my face to produce oil, even if i try(i use cerave healing ointment as a daily cream, my skin is so dry- from medication im on).. so gimme all of the illuminating primers esp the ones that not only illuminate but hydrate as well.. as long as they arent sparkles, ill take it.. & even though im 36, i dont have much to cover up, so something like ct hollywood filter is plenty of coverage for me(then use a little concealer where i need it) bc MOST foundations make my skin feel like its on fire bc its so dry, so primers with illumination & skin care benefits def feel better...so im extremely thankful for them... but obviously, if i had oily skin, or need to cover more on my face, i wouldnt enjoy them as much.. so theyre def personal preference.

In a way I kind of like the idea of foundation jars because it's easier to recycle!

My holy grail expensive French foundation comes in a jar. I totally agree with you. I would prefer packaging that prevents contamination.

I have super thin sparse brows and super thin lips naturally, but I wear barely no makeup bc I'm fine with what I've got going on. Plus, I work outside, and wearing foundation or heavy makeup just doesn't work for me. It's all about your self-confidence, I guess. 🙂 I do love a good bold lip with some gloss and mascara, then I'm good to go!

I so agree with the Illuminating primer, putting it underneath looks beautiful but wearing it as foundation, they look like the tin man 😂 And I think the jar foundations are gross too.

Hmm I wonder how the ice roller would work on a frontal headache? I sometimes use an ice pack or cold cloth… might work.

The bleached eyebrow trend makes me LOL! I do not get it, but thank god the thin plucked eye brow trend got knocked back.
@yukokoscak2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with the eye brow trend😳😤😱 They don’t look good in blond color and don’t want to keep watching videos of those people who did dye their eye brows. Yikes, ugh, and gross 🤮

I have colouring similar to yours, except I have yellow bursts inside irises. Also my eyes r round, w prominent lids, so instead of skinny sharp felt liners I look better w smudged, blunt tip pencil ones.

Is the the clean girl look the same as the no makeup makeup look? Hopefully not because i think the no makeup makeup is the way to go. Makeup should be to highlight natural features hide flaws so it looks natural like you were born with it. So i still think clean girl looks better than Heavy makeup face but maybe take it down another notch and go for the no makeup makeup natural look without the bun hairdo and heavy brow.
