@@QueenFan12 This was NOT their last recording. Even after the group broke up in 1970, Dave still had 2 more years on his recording contract. So he got Mike Smith to record for those 2 years while the rest of the group went their own way. One more thing. In case you failed to notice some of the video was in black & white while others were in color. That's because the b&w was for TV (Top of the Pops or something like that). The color section were added AFTER the group broke up and Clark went to acting school. Those people singing, including Peter Davidson, were members of the acting class he was taking. One more thing - why don't you learn a little about the band before shooting your ignorant mouth off. Yes Dave DID go out with a hit record. He was the group's drummer AND their manager AND their record producer. The 4 others were his EMPLOYEES and were paid a salary. Clark had already made a fortune and wanted to do something different, so he broke up the group and went into acting.

LYRICS: Love is but a song to sing Fear's the way we die You can make the mountains ring Or make the angels cry Though the bird is on the wing And you may not know why REFRAIN: Come on people now Smile on your brother Everybody get together Try to love one another Right now Some may come and some may go We shall surely pass When the one that left us here Returns for us at last We are but a moment's sunlight Fading in the grass REFRAIN If you hear the song I sing You will understand (listen!) You hold the key to love and fear All in your trembling hand Just one key unlocks them both It's there at your command REFRAIN

I was born in 1962, so was just a little kid during the 60s when all that peace & love stuff was going on. By the time I was old enough to know anything, all the peace & love was gone and all we had left was inflation. It never does last, does it? There's something about this video that reminds me of Jim Jones & the People's Temple. Like I said, the peace & love never does last.

What a great stage invasion - akin to Hey Jude on The David Frost Show. The song was originally by The Youngbloods.'Put a little love in your heart' even gets a mention, another song the Dave Clark Five covered.Even the record sleeve was a cover.Great gospel shouting by Madeline Bell from Blue Mink.Spot Peter Davidson in the audience.this song spent 8 weeks in the UK charts, peaking at 8 in March and April 1970,their last major hit. Here comes Summer peaked at 44,More Good old rock'n'roll (a medley) peaked at 34 and a reissue of Glad all over peaked at 37 years later,in 1993.

The song was not originally by the Youngbloods, but by Dino Valenti, whose real name was Chet Powers and he wrote the song. The Youngbloods and Jefferson Airplane both recorded versions around the same time (1966). The Youngbloods version eventually reached the top 10 in the USA in 1969.

"In March 1970, the Dave Clark Five reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart with their version retitled 'Everybody Get Together'." Sometimes that happens, a song or a movie gets a different title so more people can recognize it. All the songs we have today that have the same one-word title as any other song should probably take notes.

I think that there are a few factors in why The Dave Clark Five isn't looked at in the same vein as The Beatles. While both band's started out as near equals in popularity, The Beatles were the eventual winners because of them quickly evolving with the times and embracing the psychedelic sounds and concept albums of the time. They also had outside management and financial advisors. The DC5 on the other hand rode the "British Invasion" train longer than their Liverpool counterparts. Their name also hampered any later development. While "The Beatles" name could adapt to any era, "The Dave Clark Five " was named after a person, who wasn't even the vocalist. Still, this song shows that the band could change with the times and could show the youth a more mature sound, just in a different direction than their one-time rivals. Sadly, Dave Clark himself own all rights to the music and refused to allow it to be released for decades causing many fans to overlook them and potential new fans to not know who may have never heard of the band. Also, the clear breakout member of the band was singer Mike Smith, regardless of who's name is on the front of the bass drum.
