The most ridiculous thing is that, even when these idols are naturally built with a bulkier figure and they only looked “chubby” because of the unjustifiable camera angle, netizens still turned a blind eye to that to call them out for not managing their image well enough.

kai has a wide rib cage with broad shoulders and a rectangular-shaped torso (hope that makes sense, i just mean he doesn't have a curvy figure), he's going to naturally look bulkier, but it really doesn't mean he has a higher weight. another fact is, he's also gained muscle which makes him look both wider in the face, torso, and arms. EDIT: about nayeon's underwear imprint showing, like how is it not gonna show. the only way you can get away from that in that tight of an outfit is if you wear a g-string or thong, or go underwearless.

Western figure is a very general term. It's this idea that are all East Asian people are skinny, small-boned and short. When...they aren't. If Kai was 6'2 they would link it to his Western heritage. Just like him being muscular, gaining weight or having a big ribcage. Despite fans KNOWING how hard the East Asian populations strive to fit the "small, skinny Asian" stereotype. They say most idols are starving themselves/dieting because they aren't naturally that skinny. Yet Kai having weight on him is because he is half white. I don't get it. A thick korean person is disregarded. But a thick biracial idol is that way because of their western side. Yes certain groups tend to be taller or less muscular. But it seems as if a mixed idol has any "unusual" traits, fans rush to their heritage. Like Nancy having a fuller body or Somi fitting Blonde hair. 🤦‍♀️ Many fans demonize fat of East Asians. Thinking they're all just naturally thin. But are okay with mixed idols having it.
