I love this video and the art of hosting. Sometimes I can get caught up in the hosting and not on loving my guests well. Thank you for these reminders. Some more tips: have out some snacks or a bowl of nuts to carry over until the meal is ready, sit when your guests arrive and be present with them, and please, never apologize for a messy home. It is awkward for your guests and really, a little mess might make them feel a little more comfortable.

Awe, beautiful tips! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to share! 💕 that is a great tip to have nuts or a snack to nibble on while the meal is being complete and I totally agree with you that it’s better not to always apologize for the mess, although I have to confess I am very guilty of that. Thank you for those!❤️❤️

I’m always so hesitant to host because of how small our space is. However, I’m trying to rewire my thinking to appreciate how cozy it can be because of that and focus my energy there to help me work up the courage to send out a few invitations. I do think it is important to host and demonstrate hospitality, that we’re called to incorporate it into our home. 🙂

Oh my goodness, I have struggled with the same thing. I totally agree with you though and try to view my fairly small home as a place I can maximize the cozy due to the size. It does make for being more creative with how to hold more people especially with seating😂

I needed this video! I look forward to part 2! Hosting stresses me out. So badly. And I don't want it to be so crippling that I'm unable to host. I love the idea of having background music! I never would have thought of that. It would be so beneficial, because I am terrible at small talk. Now I am definitely going start a list of questions to ask my guests. That idea was absolutely brilliant!! Another tip I would add, would be to turn off the TV. I've been to a few people's houses, and we just all end up staring at the tv.. lol. I feel like it sort of defeats the purpose of getting together, which is to enjoy each other's company. Excellent video!! 👏 God Bless!!

Thank you so much for this comment!:) oh my goodness, I completely agree with you about the TV! That is the worst and it is so hard to have any valuable talks when it is blaring in the background. Although occasionally we will watch a dvd, we don’t actually have Cable at our home and I don’t miss that at all😂 oh, my goodness, I’m horrible at small talk too! 😂 ❤️

As a believer, one of my favorite questions to ask our guests is how they came to know the Lord. Such fascinating stories and testimonies of God's faithfulness! P.S. LOVE your apron! May I ask where you found it?

Oh my goodness! A woman after my own heart! ❤️ I love asking that question as well! It is SO encouraging hearing how God wins people to Himself in such unique ways!:) 💕 honestly I don’t even remember, I’ve had it since I was very small. 😂 ❤️

Wonderful video, I really enjoyed the late autumn aesthetic. I really haven't seen my mum hosting guests since I was little so learning this essential skill for when I have my own home is a place of great anxiety. Great tips as always! I am curious to know how one might invite guests without it feeling awkward (or like you have something sinister planned for them) as, where I live it is becoming quite old fashioned to have dinner parties.

Thank you so much for your comment and for the encouragement. Hm, I always feel complimented when someone just says, “hey, you seem like a interesting(or kind, or, neat, etc,) person, I would love to have you over an evening next week (or whenever) for dinner to get to know you better,” or something like that. I think it is such a sweet compliment to someone to act interested in their life, like you’d enjoy getting to know them more I try to frame my invite around that. I’ve never hosted an actual dinner party, but maybe you could do it in a similar way? I’m not quite sure myself. ❤️

I reccomend the album "Beyond Nature" by Phil Keaggy for background music!

Oh my goodness, we used to listen to him as kids and really enjoyed his skill. It’s been years though. Thank you for reminding me, that is such a good recommendation!:)

Just re-watched this video. I want to thank you again for the videos you have made. Your videos have been a great help for me to make the decision to stop working and be a homemaker and find joy in it. I hope you and your family are doing well. I think it is a fantastic choice that you made to quit KZbin❤ Though I keep being subscribed in the hope dat one day in the future there will be another video again 😉. Kind regards from the Netherlands
