The Way of Kings is a fantastic novel! I highly recommend the audiobook because there’s two narrators and they do different voices for each character and it just brings the whole story to life!

The Well of Ascension is sooo good. I honestly couldn’t believe how this one and The Hero of Ages blew my mind too but it did. One my favorite series of all time. Absolutely incredible.

Leviathan wakes is nothing like game of thrones in space, it’s kinda a detective/mystery story, publishers really need to stop comparing everything to Game of thrones

I just finished the Eye of the World and i LOVED it. It drags kinda in the middle part but the ending is so intriguing it made me want to pick up the Great Hunt immediately! I would recommend also listening to a podcast for the series because that's what really helped me. I like the White Tower Podcast and the Wheel Weaves podcast, they break down chapter by chapter.

The First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie is 100% worth it. The first book is The Blade Itself. It's very character-focused but you're so invested in them that it never feels slow (to me). To give you an idea of what the characters are like, the fan favorite is a professional torturer.

I haven’t read the Girl With All The Gifts, but if you wanted a less-traditional zombie story, Feed is definitely that. I’m not a huge zombie person, but it’s one of my favourite books. Much more interested in how the world continues to operate post zombie apocalypse than typical horror tropes. Wheel of Time is also ❤️ but it’s a commitment. Very interested to see how you go with it when you get to them!

I'm currently re-reading the Wheel of Time. It's descriptive...incredibly so, but so so good. Also the Lies of Locke Lamora is fantastic. Try Kings of the Wylde if you're looking into more longer series

Rhapsody by Elizabeth Haydon. It's the first in an older book series. I'm sorry to say I've only read the first book (but it's great!), but I plan on revisiting it soon. I feel like when I read it there was not a lot of epic fantasy books to choose from at the time. Now there are so many!

Big books were the best way to utilise the 4 book limit at the library when I was growing up so I read a lot of fantasy as a teen. Raymond e feist Riftwar saga is brilliant, starting with Magician they go from chunky to normal. My favourite parts were the empress subtrilogy & his jimmy the hand. David Eddings stand-alone Redemption of althalus was also pretty good although his series got a bit repetitive (still good).

Currently reading the third in The Stormlight Archives, Oathbringer, which is 1200+ pages and probably the biggest book I’ll have ever read when I’m done. But so far it’s been absolutely worth every minute. Another I would recommend is The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss.

Really good choices on here! I love chunky books! The Wheel of Time series really is intimidating, but I'm on book 6 now and it really got better and better. The first book has a lot of exposition in it and is slow at times, but I think it's a really good even without the others that follow it! One big book series that always get's recommended to me is Malazan Book of the Fallen, but I hear very mixed opinions on this one so I'm scared 😅 And I love that so many people are picking up the Stormlight Archive! It was my introduction to adult fantasy and I love it! It's still my favorite from Brandon Sanderson (with Skyward in a close second) Love these big book vids!

I have quite the list of big books that I would like to get to soon as well. I've been enjoying reading along with the Realm of the Elderlings series with you gals and I hope to also join in on the readalong for the Stormlight Archives as I really want to know what all of the excitement is about plus I have all of the books that have come out so far. Leviathan Wakes seemed like an intimidating book to me but once I started reading it, was hard to put down. Looking forward to continuing on with the series soon. One of my favorite series that I've been making my slow way through is the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon which is currently at 27 books that involves a range of mythology including Greek, Atlantean, Celtic, Roman and several others though mostly Greek and Roman as well as mythical creatures like Dragons, Weres, Shapeshifters, Demons and well just a lot of fascinating creatures. So it's kind of Urban Fantasy as all of the books take place in the modern world at some point. There's a few chunkers in the series though most of the books are under 400 pages and there's romance as well. She has also has a sci-fi romance series and just has written a lot of books in general. Best of luck with your TBR!

Where of Time is my all time favorite series, but it is very much not for everyone. Quick and dirty plot synopsis: The Choosen One has been (re)born. Half the world doesn't believe in him, most of the rest want to control him, and the remainder would like to kill him. It doesn't help that the prophecies say he'll destroy the world before saving it. (Weep ye people of the world. Weep for your salvation. ) Featuring some of the best world building around, an extensive cast of main characters, literally thousands of named characters with dozens of individual PoVs, friendship, heartache, fantastic magic system, and so much more. Tips: 1. Don't Google anything. Autocomplete is notorious for spoilering everything. 2. If you're not liking it stop reading it. It breaks my heart to see people forcing themselves yo read the books when they're not having fun. 3. As you said, there are 15 books. It's a marathon not a race. All the being said I hope you do like it when you get to it

The Way of Kings is amazing!!! I’ve read 152 books this year and it’s in my top 5!! I just read The Sword of Kaigen by Ward. It’s chunky but a stand-alone and AMAZING!! Highly recommend if you haven’t read that one yet!

If you are looking for gritty assassin books, I'd recommend checking out the Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks. He also has another series of chunky books, The Lightbringer Series, where the magic system is based off of the colors and light. In my opinion, the Night Angel Trilogy is better, but both are worth checking out.

Oof yes to Rage of Dragons. Very fight-scene centric but completely fantastic. The second one comes out in 78 days! I really want to read City of Brass, I only hear good things. I’m also REALLY wanting to continue the Mistborne series. So so good 😭 Your September TBR is already terrifying 😂 but I’m SO psyched to read it with all of you! I didn’t actually know about most of these adult/new adult fantasies and it has me really itching to start an epic fantasy ✨

I’ve also started to read the Cosmere this year. Well of Ascension was the hardest of the Mistborn trilogy for me to get through, but the payoff in Hero of Ages is worth it, it’s my favourite of the three. I’m currently reading Warbreaker and hopefully starting The Way of Kings before the end of the year. I’m intimidated by its size but given TSA is projected to be ten books long I’m going to take it at my own pace and take in all the detail.

I wouldn’t compare The Expanse to game of thrones at all. It’s not nearly as complicated. The books are large but I find I read them faster than some of my 300-400 page books. The writing is super accessible and engaging.

Oh my god, I did not know Ship of Magic was that long. OTL I am reading Way of Kings this week, so I was excited to see the announcement for the Stormlight Readalong but this and Elderlingalong might kill me. I still have the last 2 Witcher books to read as well. I also had no clue the Expanse series was nine books long. Jeez. The Lies of Locke Lamora is what you are craving. They are very clever thieves. Some of the best I've ever read. Its also fun. I have been dying for you to finish Mistborn. And the Wheel of Time is intimidating as fuck. That's a commitment. One I need to plan for.
