As a Type 1 diabetic for 18 years, I SO much appreciate the little explanation you gave about the difference in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. I've truly loved watching your videos!

Being a type 1 diabetic, I was very nervous and skeptical that you weren't going to specify or properly tell the difference between type 1 & type 2 diabetes because they are COMPLETELY different in causes and management. Thank you so much for properly educating everyone on the difference between type 1 and type 2. Mostly everybody gets it wrong. It's nice to finally have someone explain it right. Thanks again 💙

I don't often comment, but as a type 1 diabetic I appreciate you mentioning T1D. Not a lot of people take the time to explain the difference to people and it is sometimes frustrating to explain my situation to the same people over and over again. Type 1 has been getting a lot more coverage in the past few years or so, so thank you so much for being a part of that. I also learned more about myself from this video, and I've had T1D for a little over 20 years now! Thank you Becca, I love this series so much. It is really helping me a lot!

I had gestational diabetes and now at higher risk of getting type 2. That’s because I was at my thinnest when I was pregnant. Now I’m trying to be preventive as well as eat mindfully. I don’t want diabetes! You explained it so well and made it easy to understand. I did really well by controlling my GD through diet, meaning just eating in moderation and like you said, had my carbs with protein and fats. Then I went CRAZY after giving birth, 7 months later and I’ve gained 15 lbs and having trouble stepping away from large amounts of candy, fries, pizza. But I’m determined to keep myself under control and not get type 2.

You are so knowledgeable, and you make these topics so easy to understand. This is everything I dreaded learning in school because they would make these topics long and boring. Awsome! Great video. Very well explained. I'm lucky I don't have any problems with sugar, I used to put a lot of it in my coffe and my tea and Cool Aid when I was much younger. It's a good thing I got myself to do research and find out what sugar can do to your body. I hardly ever drink a soda or have sugar with my coffe or tea nowdays. Once again great job on your videos!

Your channel has helped me so much this yr in my efforts to control the amount and types of sugars\carbs I eat and the combinations of other nutrients I eat in combination with my sugars and carbs, my digestion and energy levels have improved drastically since I’ve started better controlling the sugars in my diet through not only minimizing processed sugars but also increasing my fiber and protein and fat I’ve actually had the energy to start excersinibg again, like you I do not and did not cut out any foods but I am much more scrutinizing of what types of sugars I eat how much of them I eat ( awareness if HIDDEN SUGARS ) I still eat desserts when I want them but don’t want them nearly as often or as much other the ( portion size ) I am so enjoying your channel and find it so helpful in terms of balanced meal and snack ideas and helping me realize I can eat more than I was and have the foods I really enjoy in the right portions and combinations with other foods

Thank you so much for doing this. I found out this year that I have insulin resistance and I am just so overwhelmed with all the different articles online and all the things I'm "supposed" to do to fix it! The only problem is that each thing I read counteracts the last thing I read!! So confusing :(. But I'm glad you're doing this to help prevent others from getting to this stage.

Very well put for both those who do and don't understand the basics! Thanks Becca!So what is your throught on juicing based from the content of this video? I know a lot of people stand behind it and push it as "good nutrition", but I've always had my opinion that it's not that great for you. However, I haven't had much free time to research it further for actual facts and evidence. From this video, I would assume, that by taking away the fiber, this would definitely spike blooded sugar? (Not to mention the "ruffage" is beneficial!) And especially if you're replacing multiple meals throughout the day with only juices? Just curious on your input. I'm a college student on the RD track at my university (:
@katrinalynn50937 жыл бұрын
hey! just based off of my past knowledge, smoothies are in a way better than juices.. not saying anything is wrong with juicing as i buy some from time to time, but smoothies have everything in it, the entire fruit/vegetable, rather than only its sugar. My mom has type 1 diabetes, and this is what she told me when I was younger and I have found research that defends that point as well! But again, nothing is bad for you, everything in moderation
@kierstianaseay66907 жыл бұрын
I had a professor in my first year of college for Health Education that really advocated "juicing"... for like a month... like doing a cleanse with juices. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I was still very new in my Nutrition/Dietetics studies at the time and I barely grasped the basics, but I just thought that there was something about it that didn't seem right. Like you said, every thing is okay in moderation! Which I am a true believer in. But after watching this, it makes even more sense as to why it is a bad idea to "cleanse" with juices. Fad Diets really "irk" me, (for lack of better words), and I've always found this one really interesting. Don't get me wrong, smoothies can be bad for you too, depending on what you put in them! But generally, they're obviously slightly better if you're health conscious. Just crazy to me that someone who clearly doesn't know anything about how that concept would affect your body, yet is advocating it so much and unfortunately influencing others. Anywho, thanks for the reply!
