i like the term genre-bender in relation to his musical inclinations and expressions. he's not too concerned with those labels, it doesn't seem. Heck, according to some interviews, he isn't even too concerned with how his art is made. He said if he would've had a piano instead of a guitar, he would've gone that direction more. he's an artist before he is genre-loyal or medium-loyal. Certainly, there is nothing wrong with artists 'staying in their lane', but my point is that Beck doesn't have a lane; he's got a field, and he runs around in that field and finds cool stuff that he then shines up and sells by the roadside. Consummate artist of our time.

I love Beck, and I'm glad he got to get the Grammy, but I don't see why people are so mad at the thought that some people might rather listen to Beyonce over Beck. They are two totally different styles of music, and obviously some people would prefer tp listen Beyonce's pop music over Beck's alternative stuff. So those of you who are asking," how could Beck win over Beyonce"?, or, "how could people have not heard of Beck before the Grammy's"?... The answer to your questions are:Because people have different taste in music. It's pretty obvious people

Kevin, because it's a bizarre reverse snobbery. Beyonce's music is throwaway bubble gum trash IMO (I cannot stop people liking it, but as someone who has played musical instruments since the age of 3 I have a good knowledge of the subject). So I can quite easily tell that Beyonce and Kanye are not fit to tie my bootlaces musically, let alone those of Beck. And as for Beyonce's lyrics, dear god a primary school child could do better. I know Kanye can't help being stupid but he can help being rude.

Beck is an artist in all sense of the word. He single-handedly produced his latest album all on his own and plays multiple instruments. The class he has shown throughout this speaks volumes about his character and doesn't play into social media. Music is subjective, so if you like Kanye, Beyonce or Beck that's great. But the way in which an album is made and what the "artist" does to create it is where this huge separation begins. Beyonce had 16 producers, many contributors and writers. Kanye's own performance on the Grammys was riddled with auto-tune and lets face it: He cannot sing. Do I enjoy his other music? Yes, he's a talented rapper. But he is attempting to venture into territory that is beyond any musical ability he, alone, possesses. I saw Beck a few months ago, for the first time. It was one of my "bucket list" shows. I was blown away. The show was damn perfect, his entire library of music was played. And that voice. For such a small frame he can fill a room. Beck's an artist. And if you can't appreciate it, that's 100% okay. Just don't equate album sales and popularity to being great. That's not what the Album of The Year is. It's an award for musical excellence in many facets from instrumentation, singing and writing. And for that, Beck is a master of his craft.
@bmo15228 жыл бұрын

I saw her, yeah I saw her with her black tongue tied Round the roses Fist pounding on a vending machine Toy diamond ring stuck on her finger With a noose she can hang from the sun And put it out with her dark sunglasses Walking crooked down the beach She spits on the sand where their bones are bleaching And I know I'm gonna steal her eye She doesn't even know what's wrong And I know I'm gonna make her die Take her where her soul belongs And I know I'm gonna steal her eye Nothing that I wouldn't try Hey, my sun-eyed girl Hey, my sun-eyed girl I saw her, yeah I saw her with her hands tied back And her rags were burning Crawling out from a landfilled life Scrawling her name upon the ceiling Throw a coin in a fountain of dust White noise, her ears are ringing Got a ticket for a midnight hanging Throw a bullet from a freight train leaving And I know I'm gonna steal her eye She doesn't even know what's wrong And I know I'm gonna make her die Take her where her soul belongs And I know I'm gonna steal her eye Nothing that I would not try Hey, my sun-eyed girl

There is actually no right lyric here,as Beck himself has been extremely coy as to what the lyrics is,though I prefer cyanide myself.

@@ArmandoLuis1318 A lot of his stuff seems to be. Watch the video for his first hit "Loser" with girls dancing in a cemetery and a coffin rolling around with someone wearing a grim reaper mask.

This sounds so upbeat, but it's actually quite dark; "..And now I'm gonna make her die, and take her where her soul belongs..." I love Beck;D
