Wow I just saw this I am 71 yoa I am learning a lot by chords and by ear,My desire is to learn so I can play in nursing homes to draw folks back to our father,I am so in need of help seems like I can not find any one in church I feel like I’m stuck .I don’t know how to read music but by chords I’ve learn songs like There is a river but it seems like I am missing a lot in that song as well as all the other songs I play. That is my prayer but it seems like satan is blocking my way for help. Thanks I truley love Gospel songs I pray all the time for Gods to give me this talent ,not for show but for ministry

what mode did you use in the intro?

So I didn’t think mode, I thought chord tones. I guess you could say the walk was major pentatonics scale, and then the chord tones are Dorian. I don’t think mode as much when chords get out of scale though.

What if you can't reach an octave on the piano with your left hand. I have vert short finger and due to arthritis they are even shorter due to the curving of the fingers due large nodules.

Betsy Ross yes so if your playing in G do everything the same as shown other than the octave G just play a low note G instead😀

Thanks so much for such a quick reply. I can read music and most of the time i just play the melody with the right and chord with the left and it sounds so boring. LOL I didn't know how to jazz it up or add the extra flair. I am definitely signing up.
