Everyone is saying you have to go to a boxing gym. What if I’m someone who’s not looking to ever go professional or fight in the ring? What if it’s more for the basic knowledge of at least having an advantage against a stranger who doesn’t know boxing but I’m not interested in actually sparring and beating other boxers? Is the home pretty much enough? (I’m a college student living in the Bay Area, money is already tight and those gyms are so expensive over here)

no issue with the rest of the video, but the glazing for boxing in the intro is insane. 1. buy clothes that allow for kicks. In fact if you're good enough you can throw kicks and knees in any pants 2. If your pants are made of paper, then just throw low kicks. Ive yet to experience a pair of pants you cant throw low kicks in 3. If for some reason youre on a gag show where throwing low kicks will cause your pants to rip off, clinching and elbows are still extremely effective and are integral to muay thai. Not to mention, punches are still a big part of muay thai and learning to blend all these attacks together makes you a very effective fighter TLDR: Boxing is good for self defense, but so is muay thai and kickboxing. Sure you can argue on the effectiveness of each martial art on paper, but in my experience it depends more on the user

Here’s the thing you guys. You simply can’t be a good boxer or good fighter in general without doing lots and lots of sparring. You won’t gain nothing by knowing how to throw a punch, but not being able to hit anyone and getting hit back. If you want to get better at something, then you have to do exactly that thing over and over again. So just go to a gym. If you don’t have the money, start by not buying unnecessary things and things that were already unhealthy to you in the first place such as junk food. Or at least find some people that are willing to spar with you regularly

Some dude name Austin came to the gym i train at with all the confidence in the world because apparently he was a “self-taught” boxer, and my uncle that is in fact ALSO my trainer told him “you’re going to get in there with one of my guys” he then proceeds to yell across the gym “ay chino gear up you’re sparring today” and i do so, the kid austin then started saying that i was too small (i fight at 130) and he had a 37 pound weight advantage over me, once we had geared up we got in there. The bell rings, and the first combo i throw is jab, cross and right hook to the temple, i have him on bamby legs in just 15 seconds WITH head gear on, i start punishing him with a load of combos on him until my trainer throws in the towel and he’s ko on his feet. So in conclusion being self taught is way different then someone that has been boxing since they were 7. There’s no comparison, you can do all the heavy bag exercises you want but as soon as you get into the ring with someone with actual experience it’s over.

If you're trying to become a pro boxer, you should probably be in a pro boxing gym, but this video started out talking about street defense, which you can absolutely practice at home. Although i'm not sure relying on boxing, which is a SPORT, for street defense is a good idea.

No 😂😂😂 Do not box at home if you actually want to be a boxer it will lead to bad habits 🤦♂️ For fitness it’s ok

@@SpeedSkeeeeI've sparred about 4 actual boxers years ago. They basically confirmed to me what you asked. People will deny it, but a boxer isn't going to lie to you. Trust.

Great video - I've done lots of martial arts and strained a ligament in my butt when I kicked someone. I think boxing is great for simple focus and (apart from knuckles) more reliable and less likely to injure yourself in a street fight. Of course people can wrestle you, but the skills and fitness you get from boxing will always be useful.

Muay Thai guy here. You can throw a leg kick no matter what you’re wearing, and sometimes that can be enough..wouldn’t recommend using higher kicks in a street fight. Also a teep is pretty good and easy to do in street wear…not to mention clinching and elbows…and boxing lol muay Thai guys can box too

Лол, ты наверное живёшь в какой-то экваториальной стране. Потому что зимой например в Британии ты будешь одет в слои одежды. Просто поднять ногу будет сложно, не говоря уже о резких и быстрых движениях ею

You can learn a lot at home/alone. Perfect start. But you need sparring and a trainer. Its just a must to level up. You will hit the bag A LOT and if you just smash and smash it for years with very bad form (and without someone watching and correcting you it will be bad) you can really get hurt and damage your body.

I hope you see this comment. As a beginner, I would like to know about your personal journey and how you managed to learn calisthenics, boxing, and bodybuilding simultaneously. At what age did you start? how do you manage your TIME in a day and your relationships? How many years does it take to master these skills? Make a Video on this please.

I’ve been doing Muay Thai for a while now, and right when you said that “you can throw a kick or knee in jeans” I was honestly curious, and threw on a pair of jeans. I wasn’t really uncomfortable and could still kick and knee with ease. Awesome vid tho!

I've seen many people at my gym that are self trained and they still don't have perfect form after 6-7 months of training. Not saying it's not possible but it would give you a massive boost if you can at least train with someone who has been trained by a professional or join a boxing gym. Training at home is the last thing you probably wanna do

There is nothing like a gym and mates to correct you BUT. Starting by getting in shape can save you a bit of time that you can focus on more " teorical" training/ learning. Obviously therse a big benefit at being in shapeish than being overweight. Note: if you are chubby like i am or out of shape, dont be afraid to go try a gym. I always hated exercise (you get tired, sweaty and the next days are painful) but i learned it is REALLY good for my mind and body and im now eager to exercise.

low kick tend to end most street fight where I come from and they all worn jeans most of the time, striking art is great till you meet a judoka or a Wrestler they will grind you to the bone and being introduce to pavement by gravity tend to kill any momentum of fighting.
