The problem was that the fountain of healing water the students were supposed to get water from was dried up. Not only that, but healing waters on the next floor over... were dried up. They had to go down another floor before they could find it, past the mapped out area of the cave. It was never explained what the teachers thought of it or what happened with students being unable to get the healing water. No idea why they can't go back to the well they were at and get more.

Fun fact. Trying to watch this show is full of commercial breaks and ads. They stuff them all over the place. There was literally an ad break at 2:56 which I had to splice Sage back together to make the audio and visual not look jarring. I also had to refresh and rewatch the ads because after an ad plays the show would skip MANY frames. So at this part it kept skipping to the end credits. It would not skip when the ad first plays but if you try rewinding the show and you already watched the ad then it would skip huge parts of the show. By refreshing the page all the ads would reappear thus giving me another chance to get the parts correctly again in exchange to be tormented by ads. I had to watch multiple ads just to get back to that ad part ,just to record the correct segment because they force you to watch the other ad breaks if you try to skip to a certain part of the show. These aren't like short youtube ads mind you. These are mega ads that can go up to 5 minutes. Unskippable. Now why didn't I just rewind to a frame right after the ad? Well there's an interface that dims the show considerably, shows a timeline, and has a giant pause button on the center of the video. The fade in for it to go away takes a long time and if I recorded that, it would look janky to watch. If you're wondering what the ads are, most of them are some filipino guy returning to a Amazon Warehouse to become a nurse or something. Then there's another Amazon ad spouting misinformation about historical people and traditional stories. One ad I rarely got but did enjoy was the Rimuru ad. The music that played during that is spectacular and he's cute too. I guess he'd be a real slime boy though. As in he's really a slime.

I think the worst part of this show is it could have been good. But the spirit in which it was made was toxic and hate filled. And calling it anime is just incorrect. In addition to putting more depth in the characters, I’d completely axe Rosemary. Replace her with the axe girl because she’s unironically a lot of fun. Make Sage the leader with the missing/dead mom. Have her goal to become the best old magic user so she can save her mom. Or better yet make it both her parents. This gives her an underline reason to want to help Thyme beyond friendship. And for gods sake, can we get some masculine male characters on this show? The 2 we have are a mutant cat and an a$$hole. The women writing this show hate men so much even their shoehorned in trans character was ftm. Masculinity, especially in a school training warriors, is not wrong.

Again it was just such a hateful group that made show. I mean you look at the writers room and you can tell exactly what those women believe. And that’s before they even talk about it. Cartoons use to be made with passion, for the sake of the art, because the creator had a story to tell. Not to shoehorn in sociopolitical ideology. The storyboarding and editing of this show is so bad. There's pockets of ideas that conceptually would work (if only because they're a bit cliche, which is OK) if the way it was shot wasn't so godawful. I just can't understand why the elf didn't just shoot the catgirl while she was doing her magic. The cat girl is busy and is unlikely to dodge the arrow. The cat has shown herself to be a villain, and it is unlikely that she will conjure fireworks, to the delight of others, the elf has already tried to shoot her. No, I understand. It's just that the cat girl has an armor called a plot.

My main confusion is that thyme has this healing water on hand and didn’t even bother to tell her mom about it, and yet she waited another month to have this water STILL on hand. If her home REALLY that important, she should idk man up and go tell her mom that she had found the cure and go back home and save the forest. But no, instead she lost the healing due to her arrogance.

They could always get more as the Cave wasn't destroyed and many of the kid's passed the test of finding the healing waters. So they could always tell the teachers about the miracle about what it can do and stage a expedition back into the cave to get more. But because of how the scene was framed with the tree, maybe it doesn't actually work and merely displaces the evil as it just moved to the roots. Maybe the real threat is the over use of New Magic.
