Just for your edification, the Gullahs are a black American culture that developed along the coasts of the South from slaves and freed slaves. They even have their own language. American Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is a Gullah and Gullah is his first language!

Honestly I’m sucking it up and forcing myself to get used to it since the names don’t rotate and sometimes end up upside down and very hard to read

2:13 Gullah is a group of Afro Americans who are somewhat distinct from African Americans at large. There's a large retention of Afro elements in their religion and their native language is an Afro English creole. Much like Haitian Catholicism retains several Afro elements and their language is an Afro French croele. All throughout the new world you can find you can find pockets of Afro descendent people like this who retain strong elements of West African heritage and speak and Afro creole lexified by a European language. For example I am Jamaica and that's how all of Jamaica is. PS: An Afro creole is a language that has West African grammar but uses mostly words from another language (usually the colonizer). Traditionally, they have been called just bad or incorrect versions of the colonizer language because it's easy to identify words and simple sentences but they'll sound off to an ear from the colonizer language. That along with the racism of the era means most of these languages still have negative attitudes associated with them and this also extends to general African American speech in the US. There's no shortage of people on the internet calling it backwards or uneducated when the reason it's different is because it retains elements of Africanness

He said whatever that is and I said what it is 2) In explaining what it is it was necessary to talk about linguistic heritage and creoles, that's all I did. Talk about creole languages and the social context they exist in. I made no excuses for anything. I explained reasons for the perception of speech 3) Speech cannot be e backwards. If speech conveys information it's just as effective communication as any other form of communication. I have grown up in the sea islands region alongside Gullah, specifically Gullah geechee. While it does carry African elements, I’m not entirely sure I’d call it a creole. Near 100% of the time it’s pretty intelligible with English. Also while I’ve heard of one group that has used west African religious traditions before, it is definitely not representative.

That being said I have heard of the stories of speech becoming more English like. But it definitely is a creole language it's well studied alongside Jamaican Patwa as the most well understood English creoles Also I wouldn't say that afro religious elements are the majority view in any of the areas I talk about. My point was that it exists

Great job! I had played this mod but in CK2 with the exact same house! My tactic was swear fealty to the Holy Confederate Empire, marry everyone maternilialy until the majority of the Empire was my religion, then marry the daughter of the Emperor, press her claim and then my son's once she dies. From that point it was pretty easy to expand and form America by voting whoever member of my family I wanted into Emperor.

Tarheel comes from the revolutionary war. The troops that were from NC were said to be so stubborn and unwavering that it was as if they had tar on their heels. The only thing I find lacking about this mod isn't really the mods fault. I played too much of the EPE mod and going back to the vanilla character models really makes you miss EPE's amazing characters. I hope Paradox updates their portraits, right now they are just sub par and don't really look human when compared to a mod like EPE.
