628DirtRooster I really think that's how the bees felt about it~ :) They crashed down onto those boxes, but smelled the queens and boxes that smelled of other bees, and went 'We are HOME!!' And I was cracking up listening to your guys banter and joke. 'No, *you* get out of your vehicle!' XD No cop would come within fifty yards of that truck.

@@628DirtRooster How come so many bees didnt have a home to begin with--Something bad happened before this? :(
@deltatherapeutics98705 жыл бұрын
@@parteibonza They have a natural tendency to swarm, sometimes their queen dies unexpected, sometimes they are too crowded in the boxes they were already in and so they leave and swarm/gather on nearby limbs looking for a new home. It's a natural process, especially in the spring. It's the natural process bees use to reproduce.

@kelvinwhalley76556 жыл бұрын
It appears that your system of beekeeping relies on swarming. Here in New Zealand, we use hive splits and extra boxes to prevent swarming. Occasionally we catch a swarm that has left someone else's hive. I noted that most of your hives were single box. Here we generally run 2 brood boxes + honey supers.

What exactly does the smoke do to calm the bees down? And what is the product that you burn inside the can that produce’s the smoke? Thank You for making these educational videos and answering our questions, take care and please keep making these awesome videos!!

24/ 08/2016 Hi Dirt Rooster, Your swarm collection makes mine look tame,I have also just collected my first 2 swarms in Albany Western Australia. I am new but found this method fast safe and as I also have 40 swarm traps out fast is good. I take the hive body out compleate with 10 frames in and place it as close to the swarm as I can, then spray the swarm with sugar water. Then with my hands pick up as many Bees as possible and place them on the top bars. After they settle I replace the lid, brush any remaining bees to the ground and as in your great video they march in. I then close the entrance take them home place them where I want and have a beer. Works for me, good luck Jonathan.
