Great tutorial series and it's really good to see that you're bringing new players to the game. I've got over 4000 hours in SE and still enjoy playing it. I've even mixed it up a bit with challenges like starting without a survival kit and relying on unknown signals or starting in space with nothing and seeking out mayday beacons.

If you seperate your turbine towers by 9 blocks. You can have 5 turbines per pillar all at max efficiency. Which conveniently enough, is a little over 2mw of power production per pillar. Just enough to recharge a single large grid battery at max efficiency. 2 towers is usually enough to power the base, charge a base battery. And recharge one small vehichle at a decent rate.

On my ships that need to connect, I always put a camera either just behind or just in front of the ships connector. It's makes maneuvering the ship onto the connector much easier. Also, I'm pretty sure the wind turbines will not reach max output if they are not welded completely. Simply functional does not equal efficient.

Another side note. You dont need the DLC refiner. The vanilla 2x2x4 refiner will work as well :D

Thank you sooo much for this comment, I was kinda panicking bc I just started and I didnt want to have to spend money on a DLC when I barley have 7 hours in the game. Kinda strange how he doesnt mention that you can use the vanilla refiner though.

@cassarmstrong6934 space engineers is cool. In that every functional. Block. Is given to you with every new dlc. Dlc blocks are always cosmetic versions of already functional blocks. *with very very few exceptions to that rule. Some blocks serve the same function as a vanilla one but have a different area for example*

Yeah, It takes some time to learn it and just keep the ship stable - If you have enough resources, you can also add some thrusters pointing upwards to give more control. But if you are careful, its not a priority. 👍😊

Enjoy the series. Though not a beginner or expert, I'm still finding out lots of useful information. Did enjoy the miner build. Now, I need to transition this to my current save. On mine, I chucked in quite a few mods. Ended with a wall around my starter pod, to keep the wolves out 😢😊.

@Beeblebum I think the wolves arrived via one of the mods I installed. They are just invulnerable to pistol fire. They seem to be disabled at the moment. I am hoping to build a mining drone next time I am on. But seem to be a long way from ores (have 600m Ore locator). 👍🙂

Question, do you need to connect everything to a Ho2 generator ? Or can you connect it to any block such as storages ? How does item flow work in this game.

Everything that is connected through conveyors should allow passthrough... The only thing that could block flow are sorters.

In my playthroughs I noticed Platinum regularly spawning near Nickel (In asteroids and the Moon). And while there are exceptions, you will find that Silicon and Magnesium are big friends too.. lol

@@Beeblebum many Thanks for the tips, crashed my ship and spent over an hour truing to find it as battery had damage so no beacon, got it home safe once i found it and marked a GPS as to where it had landed. :-)

Copied your every move Beeblebum but cant get an auto transfer of ores from ship through couplers to refinery. Couplers are locked and show green. I have small cargo container same as you before refinery. Help welcomed.

I love your videos for the calm way you describe everything BUT this miner build doesn't work for me (and never has). Small thrusters perform poorly, so large flat ones are the way to go. This means a total redesign of the craft. Also, crafts tend to be really unstable, twisting and turning for no reason. Maybe a gyro issue?

At the time of recording Flatmos did not exist yet. Now, while this miner is very basic and minimal, and does need some careful piloting, I never had issues with being unstable. The lack of downwards thrusters on this design does make it important not to tilt the ship too far, otherwise you will lose control over it.

Did you set your batteries to recharge? And, also are you sure you have enough power reserves (more Power supply than your base is using) to charge your battery?

Lol.. YES.. I know.. I did that a lot in the beginning as well 😂 If you have enough resources, you can build extra thrusters upwards, so if you rotate the miner, you still can stay afloat. Its more of a beginner approach to save on resources.

When mining, the right mouse button works in spacesuit mode to remove large amounts, but when in a spaceship drill, the right mouse button works just like the left mouse button to take in material into my ship. Anybody got any solution of what is going on with that problem?

To have the drill working on a ship, you need to add the drill to your toolbar. Be sure to select the drill that is part of the "Block Tools" If you are not sure what that means - check this time on this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHLGi4GVmZVqbZo
