The poster with the witch's eyes covered works because it creates a sense of mystery and expectation, thus leaving the audience wondering what will happen. This is good for the film...but not for Erivo's ego, because she considers herself to be greater than the movie. It is all about her.

I feel like this has been the longest press junket for this film, and still managed to be a burning trash fire and clash of egos. Cynthia help brigade the cancellation of the Great Comet. Also she and Ariana have infidelity (rumoured) in common. And Cynthia gave a backhanded compliment to Ariana and at the same time shading the actresses she auditioned with

@angelwings1979Ай бұрын
It’s baffling to me how actors behave nowadays. They want to be the main character but their success depends on them being believable in their role. You want the audience to forget about Cynthia Erivo, the person, and only see Elphaba, the witch. Both Ariana and Cynthia’s scandals before their promo tour already were going to damage some viewers ability to believe. However, their behavior during this press tour has been ridiculous. They obviously take themselves way too seriously and why do they keep crying? Like you said, this is supposed to be a fun movie. They act like they’ve achieved something extremely serious and have changed society for the better. When they’re literally starring in a fun musical prequel to the Wizard of Oz and they’re not even the first people to play the roles. It’s all so absurd. I love musicals but I will not be watching Wicked. A big part of that is the actors behavior being so off putting. I was already hesitant because of the fact that they chose to split the movie up into 2 parts. Each being almost 3 hours long. It just does not sound like a good time. Cynthia and Ariana’s PR has done the opposite of what it was supposed to do. They have killed any interest I had in the film.

I think I'll give this movie a pass. I just have no interest in it after all the drama.
@juliefritz8636Ай бұрын
Everyone surrounded by them is creating the drama ? I have seen 5 post already pf youtubers creating their content off this. You commenting and everyone else commenting is creating their drama. They can't do anything without being picked apart. They are weird. She's weird bc she has a shaved head ? Like seriously. ? People are rude. This is the way all celebrities are and just not many are in the lime light like this bc of the fact of the traction the movie has gotten. There is so much history of this movie with indina and kristen playing these parts and I think they 100 percent picked the best cast for this. After seeing the movie I know they have some amazing voices. People can have theor opinions but I just think people.need to chill. Everyone creating the drama.

I am one of those who have been living under a rock. Yesterday was the first I heard of this movie, but your video (which I'm about to watch) is the first information I'm getting about there being an issue. One thing we can be guaranteed, though, is that the entertainment industry is anything but entertaining.

Nope I didn’t know anything about this film either until my daughters said they were going to go see it as they had always wanted to go see the stage show but couldn’t afford the travel and ticket costs. And I have to say I didn’t even know there was a stage show. I’m not into musical theatre which I think this is. Still I have learned something new today. That there is life after the wizard of oz. And I have had it confirmed that ‘actors’ are right up themselves. I’ll just keep plodding on in my job till next year when I can get my state pension and retire. Christ the entitlement of some people.🤷🏼♀️

I have enjoyed Wicked since I first saw it with an ex girlfriend on stage. I've read the book, own the soundtracks in a couple forms, and was actually looking forward to this. But first I was annoyed that they were cramming a three hour musical into like six hours... I love the musical, but what on earth are they doing to make this TWO movies?! And then, this WEIRD narcissistic temper tantrum by Erivo over the fan poster was the final turn off for me. Like, why was an actress making advertisement decisions regarding the movie poster. And her eyes were flat and emotionless. Like she completely missed the point of the actual Broadway poster. You're an actress... I've noticed that the actresses lately are kinda missing the point of their jobs. Like, Rachel Zegler during her first go out of many, of making an ass of herself while trying to promote Snow White, kept using "we" for all of these story decisions. "We decided not to do that with this movie," "We wrote a movie for the 21st century," or something like that. She kept confidently speaking as if she was truly in there writing the story and script. You are a 23 year old self-obsessed kid, Rachel. The sheer hubris of thinking anyone asked for or needed *you* of all people to "improve" a classical European folk tale is a special kind of narcissism. We need to get back to actors and actresses having both restraint and at least the ability to *feign* humility. Because we got to the stage where these people forget that they really don't have any more qualifications to speak on big issues, than any other layman. Yet they're out here, like Grande and Erivo, literally *crying* as if their stupid six hour rendition of a three hour musical is saving lives or changing the world. I don't want to sound cruel, but your personal identity that you CHOOSE for yourself, doesn't actually give you any more meaningful insight on the human condition than any other person. Having a shaved head, questionable fashion, and changing pronouns are totally fine for you, if that's what make you happy. But come off this pompous arrogance, as if you're now some enlightened demigod who has the mandate of heaven to scold and lecture normal people who don't have time to play make-believe with you. It's obnoxious, off-putting, and super cringey. You guys are for entertainment purposes only. You hopefully offer a bit of diversion to distract us for a while from our problems. So making a giant ass of yourself and creating a clownish spectacle isn't helping you, your movie, or society... Edit: grammar and the wrong "their" form were driving me nuts...

My husband is a big Judy Garland fan. When he heard about this Erivo melt down, he laughed because Judy Garland was under a contract with MGM and did 16 movies in 3 years They were rough years. I can't imagine Judy having a melt down because someone edited a poster. Erivo has too much time and too much money on her hands.

Their constant emotional breakdowns and stopping the interview to comfort one another and both constantly crying and declaring how great each other was . I was constantly rolling my eyes as they babbled on and on about how great and gorgeous they thought each other was and the way one would get emotional and start crying and then the other would start crying was not only cringe it was quite disturbing . Cynthia is in love with the sound of her own voice and she is also very much in love with herself and she makes sure that everyone understands just how fabulous Cynthia is. Her arrogance knows no boundaries. Even the interviewers were annoying as they kept feeding Cynthia's thirsty ego going on and on about how beautiful Cynthia is and how amazing and powerful her voice is and how the role of elphaba was made for her . I'm sorry but Cynthia is not beautiful she looks creepy and her voice is annoying and all that fake crying is fake and there is something real creepy about Ariana Grande at 32 years old talking in a child like voice . It's like Hollywood and Disney continue to churn out woman with bizarre behaviors who believe themselves to be better then their fans and that they can insult and berate every American who voted differently then they did . Rachel Ziegler is another toxic oddity who is in love with herself . Their narcissism is out of this world .

Cynthia probably couldn’t tell the difference between fantasy and reality. She probably assumed they were making a biopic about her than starring in a broadway show adapted for film. The woman is GREEN for heaven’s sake. Painting herself green is not enough to be considered an “erasure of her identity?” She should have just rejected the role then. What the hell is she smoking? 😂

When I first heard about the poster drama, I rolled my eyes so hard. The fanartist didn't hide Cynthia Erivo's eyes, they hid the *character's* eyes. If it's such a huuuuge deal that she "stared down the barrel of the camera", I hope there will be no shots of her during the whole movie where her eyes are hidden, as it would mean the director is ereasing her.

I have been done with Hollywood and the whole movie industry in general for a while now. I am a huge wicked book fan and I saw it on broadway. I would have gone to see the movie just because of the love I have for the books. This attitude, the elitism and the victim narrative is why I will now not go see it. Actors need to act and quit ruining the movies before they even come out. BTW You look great in that color blue Beebs.

Hi Beebs, I’m one of those who kind of live under a rock. I watch the movie trailers but have skipped watching any of the promotional interviews and whatnots. I even pass on reading critics/movie reviews. So I’m not very much aware of all the hooplas and backlash towards the actors and the movie. And thank goodness for that. I watched the Wicked this past weekend and enjoyed it immensely, even after having seen the musical 3x including the original with Cheno and Idina. I can see how actors’ politics, beliefs, and views can be such a turn off but I like to watch a movie based on the story and performance and not so much what’s beyond the frame. So back under my rock until Maria, Babygirl, and Nosferatu comes out. Also, i love that sweater. You look pretty in blue.
