One of the most satisfying things about cooking is to know you're caring for the people you love by providing nourishing food. I love watching Matt build his plate and I caught your smile as you took the lid off the pot of meat. Nothing better than to be at home, sharing a meal with family. So much to be grateful for!

Love it. Reminds me of super at my grandma's house. The cooking style is the same, do what you can with what you got on that day. Its always great. I cook like that as well, I never use measuring spoons or cups. I love cornbread like that as well, made in a skillet, I eat mine with butter or beans poured over the top. I think my favorite was fried okra, cornbread, fried chicken and fried potatoes. Then she would always have either a berry or peach cobbler, or banana pudding. Sweet Iced tear to drink. My grandma was from Oklahoma but it looks like the cooking style and food are almost the same. She cooked everything with bacon grease or lard, ate bacon every day of her life and pretty much everything they tell you not to eat. she passes away at the age 97 and not one day in her life did she take any kind of mediation. She was healthy until the day she died.
@sherie752810 ай бұрын
My great grandmother the same. My Mama and Daddy lived to be in their 80s so what's the deal with lard and bacon. MA gggrandmother had no heart problems nor did my mother. My Dad had diabetes and had open heart surgery. That's probably due to the diabetes plus he was a heavy smoker.

If you would have told me 25 yrs ago that I would enjoy watching a meal being prepared by a stranger and the entire family showing up just in time to enjoy it.....I would've said to that person,...what a dumb idea. However, that was truly a fun episode. The simplicity of the meal shows the healthy goodness. The entire effort you took in preparation reminds me of my mom, her experience "just knowing", how to bring a good meal together. Her and my dad were southerners, but raised 11 children in the northeast USA. She would have enjoyed your presentation, your connection to ancestors (granny) and pickled veggies from a garden. I also like how your family is so relaxed around the live camera. With the conflict is the country and the outside world, you all are refreshing. Thanks.

My grandma came from Appalchia and was cousins of the Carter family. Grandma and Maybelle were cousins. Grandma ended up in Idaho and this is exactly how she cooked! The one thing she made in the spring was wilted dandelions in bacon with vinegar and sugar and onions. Cooked on a wood cookstove until grandpa was gone and then went to electric. She hated it. Made the best soft rolls and bread ever and to this day I use the turkey neck and gizzards for a broth and then cook wide noodles in the broth. She was feeding a family of 20 humans so to this day I still make the noodles in turkey broth. Love your channel!!!!

I just love watching you. My grandma and also my grandpa grew up in Jackson county Tennessee , on the roaring river . Also way back then a little town call " Dog Town". My grandma never seen a town until she was all most 20. They all hitch up.the horses and wagon and went to the county fair of my favorite City Cookeville Tennessee and that's where my grandparents retired. Seeing you cook just bring back so many warm amazing times for me. Seeing you turn meat with a fork, use a glass for measuring liquids such as milk or water. Just saying the words " put up some beans". "Canned tomatoes". I spent many,many summers helping can beans , tomatoes and digging up potatoes. My grandma put the corn in the freezer cut of the cob and always fried it. You make corn bread just like her. And you call your grandma " Granny" I didn't but I called my great grandmother Granny. She had so many kids , grandkids great grandkids, great great grandkids along with all the nieces and nephews everyone just called her Aunt Sally. Watching you, brings back a lot of things I was missing in my life. I also love the way you say " sometimes " " use what you like" The Simplicity of it all and salt and pepper. On bended knee in prayer for y'all from Michigan
