Thank you for this! My boyfriend found your recipe and I was so excited to recreate this tonight. I added a touch of red wine & substituted the sour cream. I ended up making “sour cream” out of a couple tablespoons of full fat coconut milk, splash lemon juice and a bit of salt. He hates sour cream, my stomach can’t handle it haha, but it was a great substitute! Oh! I also added asparagus I needed to cook up. Fantastic recipe!!! THANK YOU @onepotchefshow

You are so right about people doing it differently. Your method totally surprised me. I would have brown the floured meat first. Transferred it to a bowl. I would have sauteed the mushrooms in the deglazed pot and added the tomato paste to that. I would have put the beef back in and then added the stock and simmer. The browning of the meat and the tomato paste kicks the flavor up to me. I never use tomato paste in this but I want to try it. Enjoyed the video!

Try adding some mustard (not dijon, the bright yellow, regular one).. like 1 or 2 tbsp.. along with the stock.. it gives a special touch... and for me, the best way to eat beef stroganoff is with white rice and shoestring potatoes! Nice recipe, i'll try this one at home!

So i made this today, only difference i did was to use a little cream instead of sour cream, it was SO tasty, it's the best thing i've ever made EVER, even better then my famous curry.. So thank you so VERY much for giving out this recipe both thumbs up from my side :)
@GreatDayEveryone4 жыл бұрын
Thats a lot of tomato paste! But it looks yummy.. You're right, there are so many variations. Some add worcestershire sauce, some add paprika, one lady added almost a cup of cream!! I really like the idea of flooring the meat so you make the roux automatically. Nice!!!

@gcarped Yes, Beef Stroganoff is one of those odd recipes that people do in very different ways. I have no idea if this version is close to the original one or not, but this is the way my mother and myself have always done it. Works for our family ;) TJ is a classic - his videos are funny, reflective, random and all-round fun :)

Mate, you are so right when you say "Every one is doing it differently". I cook it just like you, minus the tomato paste. Instead.... I put Dijon mustard and lemon juice. What exactly makes "it" be STROGANOFF? Is it the combination of onions, Beef and mushrooms?

Lately i have been experimenting with adding cream cheese instead of sour cream when a recipe calls for it ,,,works wonders for most Mexican dishes,I wonder if it would add a new layer of flavor,or simply enhance the flavors around it in your Stroganoff dish

I was always told flour goes in after the meat is cooked, as it doesn't allow you to reach higher temps without burning the casserole or sauce. Exception could be pan frying.
