My favorite and my families favorite was their iconic steak with baked potatoes& their cheesy bread. I remember my husband taking us to sizzler after church ,this was early 70s when we came to Las Vegas with my parent & siblings,then I got married & had children and we continued on our tradition going to sizzlers after church until more & more restaurants & steak house were introduced.

The CEO of Sizzler in Australia, recently said on video, that the secret to their Cheesy Bread was Pecorino cheese, not parmesan. He also said to put a saucepan lid on the bread, while the cheese side is cooking. That steams the bread on the inside before you flip it over to finish it off....just like fresh bread out of the oven! Try it, it's amazing.

I managed a Sizzler restaurant for about 10 years. The cheese toast was made in batches, 10 lbs butter is added to a mixer and whipped, then 3 lbs cheese is added and mixed. The butter has to be whipped first. Then it is spread over a thick slice of bread and cooked on a hot, flat grill. And the reason Sizzler went out of business was that they originally made everything in house, cut their own steaks, made all the specialty salads and soups from scratch. Then they brought in a CEO that promised huge profit increases and the way they achieved those increases were pre-packaged salads, frozen soups, and frozen steaks. The beginning of the end for Sizzler.
@waynepayne98755 жыл бұрын
What kind of cheese did they use?
@hamar99005 жыл бұрын
@@waynepayne9875 It was a parmesan cheese, but not a high-quality one. Closer to the kind you get at a pizza joint. The key to it all was to whip the butter before ading the cheese, and a ration of 10 to 3 for the butter and cheese.
@geekgurlsrule5 жыл бұрын
I managed a Sizzler as well and this is also how we made it. I make it at home sometimes but in smaller batches. Still use a spatula to spread it on thick and all the way to the edges!

Good morning 🌞. Just ran across your video and I love your spirit. I loved the loaded baked potato. I live in Texas and I remember them. And it's so crazy that you say that about the bread because I used to tell my kids when they were little when we go get at Golden Corral not to eat the rolls that they would bring to the table until they ate food because it's the same concept that Sizzler's used! Gone but not forgotten and their trades do live on in other franchise! Have a Blessed Day and thanks for the receipe. I never knew how to make it or ever thought of adding parmesan cheese I only use butter and garlic and now you have broaden my horizons! Thanks.

We still have quite a few Sizzler restaurants here in California. Haven't been there in a long time, and now seeing you make their amazing cheese bread makes me want to go! My favorite thing there is the Malibu Chicken, which is a chicken patty with sliced ham and Swiss cheese on top. Oh and in the U.S. the style of thick bread that the cheese bread is made with is called Texas toast.

David, I loved Sizzler when I was young and then they disappeared. I remembered I was really sad when they closed. I loved their salad bar, steak and cheesy bread! It was my favorite meal and I got the same things every time I went along with a baked potato. I don't remember what kind of desserts they had except I think I remember a self serve soft ice cream machine so I know we got that too. I was just thinking of Sizzler last week when I passed the place where it stood. That place is now an Auto Zone store which sells auto parts. I often wish they would bring Sizzler back. I would be one of the first ones though the door! Thanks for the yummy memories. Love you and your channel. 🙂🐱💟

Sometimes my Dad and I would meet my Mom and her coworker there for lunch... the usual order was "Half-pound Ground Round, Baked Potato w/Sour Cream, side salad with Bleu Cheese (Roquefort) dressing". The best dressing. And of course THE BREAD! Yummy! Sad to see them close, it was actually pretty good. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, LOL. Love your videos and your personality! your chanel gives me all the nostalgia!!! i thought australia didn't have any culture or cuisine until i moved overseas and missed all the food from home and ingredients i could never find (keen's curry powder and such) but the biggest thing is the bread - what on earth is it about bread in australia? its got almost a soft and flaky crumb as opposed to a crumbly cakey crumb the bread in north america has. the texture is so different and i love that it doesn't have sugar in it and i binge on it whenever i'm home.

Cool vid mate. You should add one step in though. I believe that sizzler covers the bread in the pan when it's cooking so it gets a bit steamed at the same time as the face is toasting off. This makes the bread much softer. Cheers
