Saw Terri Nunn and new carnation of Berlin a few years ago and she still has a very strong voice. Reminds me of Pat Benetar & Debbie Harry a lot. Checkout "The Metro" from them next. I just saw them and Howard Jones open for Culture Club in Charlotte. They rocked my face off! They did a great cover of She Sells Sanctuary too! Teri came out in the crowd and was like 20 ft away from us. It was a VERY fun show. I was afraid all of us geezers were there for a weak show by a bunch of old people... boy was I wrong and GLAD of it.

They pegged the entire dscade, from the early chilly synth of "The Metro" and "Masquerade", to the jittery new wave pop of "No More Words", to the grandiose anthems of "Take My Breath Away" and "Like Flames". Singer Terri Nunn was actually an actress before she joined the band- one of her earlier auditions was for . . . Princess Leia in "Star Wars".

Berlin first came to prominence because of the song Sex (I'm A...) in the early 80s. Anything from their land mark album Love Life is good. My favorite is Now It's My Turn. The following album Count Three & Pray had some great tracks too. Like Flames is a real banger. They're a hugely underrated band.

Berlin is a severely underrated band. Earlier Berlin was more german-elektrik influenced like "Metro" "Sex" and "Masquerade", later Berlin was in fact splendid - the awesome "Like Flames" is indeed the most underrated song in rock history and a masterwork but promotion was hindered by internal band struggles. So every taste is catered here. I would suggest "Sex - I am" and "Like Flames".

One thing to remember; is Berlin was apart of the Newave sound of the 70s, early 80s. They transitioned into the more syp/pop sound, but with the same edge they always had. In 2014; they had a new album, with a great song called Animals, you two need to hear. I would also suggest Terri Nunn's solo album; Moment of Truth, which has some great songs on it. My favorite is 89 Lines; for which Terri raps and songs 89 lines, about prejudice. In the song; she states, "Bet You Can't Tell If I'm Black or White", stating you can't tell the color of someone skin by their voice. She talks about being a black woman who's looked down upon; even though she white. If you didn't know that fact; you would think she was black. It's a great song, and it takes a moment of silence, for all those black lives lost due to violence because of prejudice. Also; you need to hear Metro, Masquerade, Sex.. I'm a, and the aforementioned Animals

Terri Nunn has such a sultry voice. Videos were huge in the day, became like short films. Sometimes this actually detracted from the music with distractions and added noises. "The Metro" is a great song, screams 80's even more than this one. Then there is their song "Sex" - actually a really fun listen but makes "I Touch Myself" sound like a nursery rhyme.

The earliest years of MTV 81 thru 84 had so many shorter term bands with a variety of styles. Incorporating new wave, synth pop, folk, dance, techno and other unique elements into their brands of rock and roll. Look at early MTV song lists. Here’s a little trivia…when the band finished recording the album “No More Words” was featured on, they left the album playing by accident (or laziness) on repeat. When they returned, one of the band members parrot was repeating the chorus “No more words” over and over again. The band said, they knew that was going to be the first single to be released off the album…isn’t that hysterical!😂 I know this because I use to watch Casey Kasem on tv for Billboard’s top ten songs of the week, and also listen to him countdown the top 40 songs on Billboard every Sunday morning. When he interviewed the band, they told him the story.
