It's extremely unfortunate that this legend has still not received Bharatratna despite of being the driving force of Indian chess. India now has 68 Gms and he has personally helped and inspired many of them. Anand and Dhyanchand are the only players worthy of Bharatratna.

Chess players like us know just what it takes to even qualify to the candidates and then win it to challenge the champion, a hands down 10 hours + of dediacted study day in and day out for over a decade can’t even guarantee anything. I see it as chess before Anand ji and after Anand ji became world champion. Before Anand became world champion chess was just there while it is originated in India.I remember a interview of Anand, he told a story of his that once he was traveling with train and an elderly man asked him what are you doing young man?Anand said i am chess player, the man replied if you are as good as Anand do it otherwise do something else or pay atention to your study(he didn't know that he was asking Anand). And after Anand ji became world champion we see India is one of the strongest nation.All thanks to Anand ji the greatest sportman India ever produced.bharat ratna to Anand ji.
