ive always felt this song was her taking the character that the media and public opinion believed her to be after the Kim/Kanye drama. Similar to her song Blank Space she's playing a character, but at the same note she flips it on its head later saying "theyre burning all the witches even if you aren't one" and calling everyone out who called her a liar and wanted to cancel her, and so she's being like fine EFF it you want me to be your Witch, do it, set me on fire, Ill come back even better and thats what the album Reputation is, is a rebirth, a phoenix rising from the ashes.

'THEY say I did something bad', it doesn't actually mean she did something bad. It's what the media and the people have been saying about her at the time. How she lies, how she's 'playing' and uses all these men to make more breakup songs. This album came out after Kim and Kanye framed her as a liar to the whole world and she was canceled. It was so bad, people were chanting 'F Taylor Swift' at his concerts, they were making murals depicting her death, murals of her naked in Kanye's music video (which are still up, but they drew clothes on her). She got death threats to the point where she had to leave the country. It was awful.

Great reaction, you guys are fairly accurate, this is about the Kanye and Kim drama when all of social media treated her like she was a witch, "They said "I did something bad", that would be them saying she was a liar, about Kanye using certain lyrics in his song Famous "I made that b!tch famous". When it came out, she said she did not know he was going to use those lyrics, she stood up and said she did not, but they had that tape edited. The truth did come out a couple of years after that.

She sells stadiums out instantly! Like, ticketmaster and axs here sold tickets for one date at a time because demand was that high (over 8 million people registered to have access to tickets in the UK, with most people still on the waiting list now). I’ve got tickets through the midnights presale to see her at Wembley Stadium here in the UK next year, a stadium that holds 90k people… she’s sold that out for 8 nights (3 in June and 5 in August I think)… that’s 720k alone. I think people who are not necessarily swifties really forget, or just don’t realise, how popular she is.

I vote for Don't Blame Me next. Liked your take on the video, that's pretty much what it's about. I think it's a clapback at KimYe and Calvin Harris. She wrote CH's biggest hit of the summer under a pseudonym so as not to wound his pride. Then he did an interview wherein he was asked if he would ever collaborate with her and he basically shaded her and said no. So she let it leak that she'd written This Is What You Came For, and CH lost his sh*t and came for her on social media. Repeatedly. I think that's what the "spend my change" line is about. The lightning behind her is also a direct callback to CH's album cover.

Maybe when Scooter sold her music and album rights without her knowledge and permission.....YEs! she got back at him by re-recording all of her albums, changing the words to some parts of her songs.....he sold her original ones for 300 million dollars (she didn't get any of it.) so now she can sell her new versions...and this is why she's worth over a billion....the venues seat usually over 70,000 seats....usually more...and each seat costs around $635+ (parking not included) so you tally the cost over 70, 000 x the ticket price, she easily can reach a billion dollars after her tour expenses and crews. SHe's earned every cent of it....she's worked extremely hard.... her Eras tour is a touch over 3 hours long with no breaks....

@jamesk8s1 wow, both would be amazing. It was worth the expense to me to give that experience to my son. He is non speaking autistic. But is so in tune musically. Shake it off was our song as he went through that middle school transition. Weirdly, he kept coming home with friendship bracelets. A lot of his classmates have known him since kindergarten and really meet him where he is. As KC natives, the past few years with the Chiefs wins, Taylor & then Taylor and Travis have been huge. We threwa watch party in our backyard for the tour movie. The energy she brings out in people of all ages is something really special. My dad and step dad worked in the music business for major studios so I have seen amazing shows, big and small, all my life. This experience is truly once in a generation. Personally, it surpasses seeing the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson or even the Eagles- Hell Freezes over tour. It edges out Phil Collins because of the bond with my son and his joy. But it honestly was the most emotional show I have ever seen.

How wonderful for your son! Music is the Universal language, the language of the soul for sure - that crosses all "barriers" and temporal borders. I'm glad he can communicate and connect thru music! This is what I love about Taylor Swift, Dollar Parton and Dimash Kudaibergan - in an age of Kardashians (apologies if u r a fan) and over the top self indulgent and self aggrandisement , it is so elevating that these 3 stars not only share their immense musical talents with the world at a jaw dropping level of skill and artistry, but they are such positive, kind, generous, genuine, heart centered people who speak and live lives that exemplify quality, elegance, decency and dignity. ......in an age of meaningless entertainers and performative politicians, with little (if any) real substance, grace, decency or dignity - I'm glad that at least these 3 (and more I'm sure) are bright shinning examples of humble confidence, graceful power and dignified intelligence for all of us and especially the young to witness and emulate! 🙌 May their lives and dreams become ever greater and brighter for the world needs bright lights like these 3 stars!!!!!!!! 🌟

@jamesk8s1 great examples of good role models. I am biased. My husband and I eloped to Dollywood to get married. She was such an important part of my life. I developed earlier and bigger than my classmates. I got a lot of confusing messages from the world about this. Some were positive, or jealous, curious, or creepy. It was from all sides - peers, the media, and adults. A lot to process for a girl still playing with dolls. My uncles introduced me to Dolly. They said, "People are going to look at you. Nothing will change that. Even if you wear a bag. But you can choose how to deal with it. You can stay grounded and kind and funny. You can be called a hussy by jealous folks, but that doesn't mean you are one. It's okay to be pretty and true to yourself." 9-5 came out that year. She helped me so much. My hubs just loved her because she is great. I think she helped steer and ground her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus to do the work, living in the public eye is very hard, especially growing up, and people will always talk. Obviously, Miley is a different person with some different paths. But I do think she is another person who uses her music as therapy, tries to connect with people, is genuine, and values kindness, integrity and working at the craft. I don't know much about Dimash's life. Just blown away by the videos I have seen though. I never had any interest in the Kardashians because they weren't doing something like singing or performing or creating something. I already know what sitting around talking with my Mom, sister, and friends looks like. I don't have time to watch other people to that. 😆 But I am aware of who they are and a lot of their actions whether I want to or not. Thank you for your kind words. You are obviously a kind, positive, genuine person yourself.

She kinda got s*** for it at the time. Tom Hiddleston and Calvin Harris. She revealed that she actually wrote the song This is What You Came For (Rihanna) and it pissed him off together with she left him for Tom at the same time. The bridge is most likely referring to the media wrongfully going after her when Kanye taped & edited a phone call & lied about it. The media & gp came first her, so that’s the bridge. @user-to2sc3cm6m11 ай бұрын
This is mostly right. It could be a little like about her relationships too. Around the same Kim/Kanye phone call time, people also started talking shit about how she dates around. But she also isn't super literal. This song might mix the beefs she's had with also people's negative perception of her dating. Like 'leave before you get left' is one of those times when Taylor isn't being super literal. It's not about leaving a relationship. It's saying like you have to strike first. People will come for you, so you get them first. Burning all the witches even if you aren't one is about the Kim and Kanye thing. Like people coming for her calling her a liar even though the video was edited. Kim famously said she was keeping 'receipts'. And Taylor uses that word 'receipts' here too. And also in the Look What You Made Me Do video at the end. As for what she actually 'did'. ....Lots of theories. Some people say she goes behind the scenes and finds ways to take people down a peg if they cross her. Vigilante Shit is basically all about her pretending or saying she does stuff behind the scenes. Vigilante Shit is about Scooter Braun. The ex she references there is his ex wife.
