I like to watch The Irony of Fate, a famous Russian movie each New Year Eve and this year I forgot to watch it during the day because I was busy cooking. I only remembered when my Australian parents came over to watch the early 9pm fireworks in Sydney Australia. They said it would be okay if I wanted to put it on as they would be leaving right after the fireworks. Well, I put it on and they ended up staying for three hours, until the end. "It's one of the best movies I've seen" said my mother, and my father spent the entire time laughing so much he had to stabilise his champagne glass. It's just gone into 2025 here so a very happy New Year to everyone! С новом годом!))

In many parts of Brazil there's the tradition to prepare russian salad in new year, and as we are in summer people at the beach jump 3 waves at 00h. In Japan the orange symbolizes the sun-prosperity, there's a traditional food called “Kagami Mochi” with an orange on top. Happy New Year! Wish a could pass it on Russia someday!

'Раз' is used when you are counting repetitions, cuz 'раз' means 'time', so instead of saying 'один раз, два, три...' you simply kinda omit 'один' to keep up with your pace of counting.
