Слово "говно" пишется через "о", и такое написание объясняется историей слова. Русский язык настолько интересен, в нем столько тайн и загадок, что даже о "говне" можно рассказать интересную историю. Существует гипотеза (разделяемая, впрочем, не всеми лингвистами), что "говно" восходит к той же праславянской основе govedo 'крупный рогатый скот', что и слово "говядина", и первоначально "говно" означало 'коровий помет'. Говно is correct but since this word is rude and almost not used in offical documents and kinda texts, you can see it in any form

Гавно - неправильный вариант, часто распространен из-за *как слышу, так и пишу* Говно - правильный вариант, который происходит от праслав. govьno (статья из викисловаря) А так, даже на слух "говно" звучит приятнее (хаха, да), чем "гАвно".

Почти нет, но "дерьмо" - мягче слово, менее жёсткое. Даже на ТВ можно иногда услышать без "запикивания", когда, например, берут интервью у какого-нибудь рок-певца.
