This was one of the best interviews you’ve done. I like Sophie’s decision not to workout in the way that society tells us to. I too was working out to lose weight and realized it wasn’t fun and the harder I exercised the less the weight was coming off. I do workout now for strength and flexibility and it’s much more fun. Also, I agree that eating cooked foods…just a bit here and a bit there becomes a slippery slope. I’ve learned how to socialize as a raw vegan now. I don’t tell people I’m raw vegan because then people become weird about it. If I know I’m going out with friends, I eat before I go and at the restaurant I order a customized salad. If I’m going to my family’s house for dinner, I contribute by making a beautiful bowl of salad that everyone can enjoy!

I became raw vegan after I started having severe problems with Irritable Bowel Syndrome many years ago. I was overweight and eating the Standard American Diet. I lost 60 lbs. and felt great when I was eating exclusively raw fruit and vegetables using some avocado for fat. No more Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Sadly over the years, I went back to the Standard American Diet. For the last four months, though, I have been on a cooked Vegan diet. I have lost 37 lbs. I have always enjoyed Gillian's channel. But in her interview with Sophie Alexandra Pool, I identified with Sophie's story as far as the transition to raw food is concerned. I am now convinced that I will go back to a raw vegan diet. Thank you Gillian and Sophie for that inspirational interview.

I absolutely love this interview! Everything she has said I've known but have struggled with bouncing back and forth between raw and cooked, even though I know I feel better when I don't eat cooked. When my daughter and her girlfriend come over for our weekly dinners and tea, I always have a salad but always some kind of cooked dish even though it's without meat. I try to prepare some kind of healthy food because they're both extremely overweight and I want to help them somehow. I love getting together with my girls and having that precious quality time, but wanting to eat the cooked when it's in front of me is hard to resist.

This was so good. Thank you. I like that she talked about ending up in ER because her liver was having a hard time with the speed of detox, and slowing the detox down some with the steamed veggies. Sometimes slow is better to avoid the life-threatening detox symptoms. “Dr.” Morse always says to dig deep, but recommends the ER and the list of detox symptoms, from dr Morse, is horrendous. Difficult going through getting stuff up and out. Most won’t, and will stay on medications. Understandable… it’s not an easy journey for many. The Functional Medicine doctors, as I see it, are just about getting people off of processed foods to more whole foods, and a reduction of medications but not about true healing. I think eating high quality meat does that for people, but is it worth the damage it will do to the body? My son has chosen vegan for the ethical reasons, and I’m concerned because he is eating cooked vegan and some vegan junk food, too. But he does eat a lot of fruits and salads too. I make raw dressings for him.
@acdcmiami Жыл бұрын
Two questions. What is high quality meat? Also, whats so bad about cooked vegetables? Many of us can’t digest raw vegetables and to condemn oil free cooked or steamed vegetable side of any type is excessive. Steamed broccoli is not good for my health?
@PureBelovedParsley Жыл бұрын
@@acdcmiami There are different levels to health. For some, just getting off junk food and highly processed foods (refined grains: white breads, bagels, crackers, white rice, instant oatmeal, Twinkies, pop tarts, pizza, cookies, etc.) will help. Cooking destroys enzymes. Broccoli is a difficult vegetable to digest. Soft raw leafy greens are easier to digest with all enzymes intact. Steamed veggies are better than junk food. By high quality meats, I mean grass-fed beef, kosher-killed meats, organic free-range chicken, wild caught fish with low mercury content. For those who are used to eating McDonalds and Burger King and meats that come from large factory farms, this adjustment can be helpful. But I really don’t think humans’ physiology is made for animal products (not for highly processed animal milks-homogenized and pasteurized), nor for cooked foods.

Do you eat only organic? Hoping that is a “no” because that adds another level of difficulty. (Access)
@GillianBerry2 жыл бұрын
I don't eat only organic ! Some things I don't compromise on like I won't eat non organic strawberries because they're so heavily sprayed and I hear bananas are too non organic but yeah definitely not! I do try my best to be as organic as possible but it's not 100%!!
@koalamama22 жыл бұрын
My personal rules: Nuts, grains, seeds, pulses all must be organic (glyphosate used as dessicate pre-harvest!), as well as leafy greens, and yes - strawberries =) because they use bromides on them. Everything else is ok, although papaya and sweet potatoes are likely GMO. I technically have healed so much using almost no organic so don't let it stop you, but the way I feel on organic plus the additional health benefits is worth the higher price, plus growing my own food in my tiny backyard and indoors with cheap LED lights. Non-organic produce is not nearly as bad as animal products since the animals eat tons of poisonous feed and it bioaccumulates, so just going vegan lowers the toxic load considerably.
@sophiealexandra30402 жыл бұрын
I also don't eat all organic. I take it one step at a time: first focussing on fresh raw livings foods, then next step is focus on seasonal produce, then local and after that organic! I found out that growing some herbs, greens, tomatoes and bell peppers in my garden was the perfect solution. And growing my own sprouts was the best choice I've ever made👌
