"The Best New Year's Resolution Ever" is notable in the John Green canon because none of the characters die

The stair tax is $1,538.46 per stair. That's a lot for one stair.

Of course there's a correlation between wealth and the number of stairs in your house. The wealthier you are, the larger the house you're likely to have, and larger houses logically have more staircases than smaller houses. They also tend to have higher ceilings, and therefore more stairs per staircase. The relationship between wealth and stairs is even referenced in the song 'If I Were a Rich Man' in Fiddler on the Roof.

I sell wood floors and and getting matching wood stairs pretty much means you're rich, even a small stair case adds thousands of dollars to any order.

+Conway79 In Las Vegas and LA, the truly rich like one story homes. They are much more expensive because of the amount of land a 10,000 square foot house takes in one level vs two levels.

I'm still living my New Years Resolution of 2005: to not make any more New Year's Resolutions. While New Year's Resolutions are popular to make, it's my belief that if one truly intends to make changes to one's life, one might as well make those changes immediately, and not procrastinate until the end of the year.

I used to think that people living in houses without stairs were much fancier, since pretty much everyone I knew or went over to play with had stairs in their houses, and non-stair houses to me were only beach bungalows with pools and stuff I wished I had in my backyard, too. :D

When I was younger, I believed that there was a direct correlation between wealth and owning kitchen towel - i.e. if someone owned kitchen towel, they were rich. Now that I have kitchen towel of my own, I'm sadly aware of just how wrong I was ;D

I've been watching some of your videos for a while now, and I just pieced together that you are John Green, like, the John Green, right before I saw this video. I had some sort of little happiness-attack and all I could do was turn around and stare at all of your novels on my bookshelf. Then I realized how much of an idiot I am and clicked on this video, feeling so glad that I actually liked you (well, what I see from your vlogs), and not just the fact that you make some beautiful stories.

I was always in awe of people with stairs when I was a kid, so I understand what you mean! And I guess it does work to an extent... two storey houses generally have more rooms than single storey houses, so presummably houses with stairs are generally more expensive (??). We now have a (small) spiral staircase in our house. It's amazing how excited my friends often are the first time they see it. They always want to climb them... its like they think there's a magical land up there! lol

I, too, thought that stairs meant you were rich. One of my dreams as a kid was to have a two-story house.
