Dear Alex and Gail, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the work you do and the beauty you create and share with uu. I laugh so hard when you open that shed and thought there's all three of my dad sheds I need to clean out. I look forward every Sunday to being able to watch you guys. I know that was a lot of work Alex but I got to tell you that wall looks awesome. Best of luck and see you on the next adventure.😊CL

You two work so hard its a shame it dos'nt stay all neat and tidy like that. Nice to see someone else has gongalongs (dunaree type trouser suit). I love mine they are so cool in the hot weather. Loved the was your cat sat up on its back legs to get a better look at something. Be careful when you are working we can't have you out of action and not able to make your wonderful videos. Sending love from Devon. xx

All that cardboard would have been a great weed suppressor in the form of sheet mulching for parts of the garden that need to be cleared of grass and weeds. To sheet mulch cut back the undesirable grass or weeds, tile cardboard and news paper in a thick layer, cover with mulch, like woodchip, spoiled hay from last winter, old manure pile, bags of leaves, whatever compost able material you have. If you do this in fall, it will smother the grass and weeds during the winter, and in spring you have a wonderful cleared patch for gardening.

I have really come to look forward to your uploads both on this channel as well as your "treasure hunting" channel... 😁 I have a tip when it comes to all the brown plain and not coated cardboard boxes. Please don't take this as me criticizing you for taking them to the recycling center. I'll just tell you what I use them for out here on my homestead in Sweden. And you can take it from there, if it would be something you would want to try... ☺ I have a "forest" property, which is very difficult to dig in, due to the big/thick roots from all the pine trees, surrounding my yard, which seem to travel EVERYWHERE... Add to that, I only have about 25 centimeters soil deep on half of my "yard" before it hits bedrock, which makes it even more difficult to be able to make veg gardens, especially if I want to grow veggies that have deeper roots. My solution which I got from another KZbin gardening channel was to use these, large Amazon cardboard boxes, as well as the smaller ones. I remove all tejp, especially if it is plastic. You don't want plastic in your garden, it will never disintegrate... I have a new large veg bed that I've been working on now for about a year. I have measured out where I want that bed to be and I've placed multiple layers of split cardboard boxes on the whole area which is to be my new veggie garden next summer. Every time I get a shipment from Amazon, I remove the tejp from the empty boxes, split the boxes open and lay out where they need to be. Next I thoroughly soak them/each layer as I lay them down with water. I now have about 3 layers of cardboard on my 4 x 6 meter new "veggie bed". I've lifted one end of the cardboard to see what's going on under the now flat cardboard and there are NO weeds, moss or grass under. Lots of fat earthworms that are loving chewing on the disintegrating cardboard. I also add shreds of cardboard to my compost, the worms love it. The whole idea of putting down the recycled cardboard is, that it will suffocate all the weeds, so that you don't have to dig into the ground and rip them out, which is very difficult to get all the roots out. The cardboard will turn into soil, when you have placed your top soil on top of it, as well as your top layer of compost. Come spring, I am going to build a wood frame, 2, 15 cm boards high. When the boards are in place I'll add some regular garden soil which I've had a load dropped off here, then a richer soil and last a good layer of compost. All this on top of the cardboard that has already started to disintegrate, will give me at least a depth of 30 centimeters of new soil and whatever deeper veg I plant there, will be able to penetrate through both the soil and also the "rotting" cardboard. Meaning I haven't had to weed or dig at all. I did this 2 years ago when starting my potato patch and, it was sooo much easier than digging in root bound grass/moss/weedy ground... I also make sure that I have at least 20 centimeters of cardboard outside of the "raised bed"/wooden frame, which I put down a fairly thick layer of wood chips on, so that I have a path that goes right up to the sides of the frame, which no weeds grow up from. Yes, some weeds will naturally sow themselves when blown there by the wind but, those are very easy to pull up before they grow deeper roots. This is just a tip for what you could use the cardboard boxes for and not having to take them to the recycling center. They are actually good for both your garden/soil and your compost. 😉

Gail, I did that very same task that you were tackling at the start of this video at around the same time this summer. Boxes from the pandemic and even before needed to be broken down, packing and plastic separated and recycled, returned in several trips to different places that take the materials. Time lapse makes it look easy, but it was a massive, tedious schlep. Congratulations on reclaiming your space!

I am digging Gail's old school Clarks (?) desert boots. I wore them for years as part of my school uniform in the 70s. And I am surprised that the vines didn't do more damage to the stone wall underneath. Although, I imagine that stone is rock hard (pun sort of intended). I love the mudlarking, but this channel is really lovely and is my dream life.

I’m glad you got rain. It has been months here in Louisiana and until last week, when it finally rained two days in a row. We normally have 94-97% humidity and 3-4 inches monthly. We had huge wildfires that burned almost 30 thousand acres here, and we are currently under a burn ban(not even to cook outside on the grill!). We all had brown crunchy grass. Since the rain, our grass is recovering. We’ve all lost our outdoor flowers. And I am so jealous of your green trees, plants, and landscape. So many blessings to you and your lovely garden, home and escapades! You are a lovely family and I so enjoyed and appreciate your sharing your lovely home!

You've got a lovely cat! It's so beautifully quiet there and the sound of that song thrush near the end 😍 I remember the 3 weeks of solid sun and no rain... it really stunted the garden and the veg in particular. The wall is gorgeous! Just remember to keep a little ivy (if you want) because the flowers are ideal for bees and butterflies when other flowers are out of season and the berries are very high in calories, so birds love them!

That is a beautiful wall finally revealed with your effort Gail. Did you find anything with the metal detector? I heard it beep. The schrews are so funny. Boy schrew crowing was like a teenager finding his voice. Your cat sitting straight up was cute. I wonder what the interest was. Looking in your shed makes me think about the debris in my own place. I need a team to declutter and haul so much away to charity shops and the dump. The much needed rain was nice to watch as it washed off the wall and settled in the ground. I look forward to the progress you made all summer. 👋❤️👋
