I don't see the problem here. They run a pawn shop, got a TV gig, made more than they ever imagined, could afford to step out of the glamour of actually running a pawn shop and enjoy the fame and extra income. They pay people to come on and drum up ratings, the old man-you can tell his lines are rehearsed, like many other occasions from other members of the cast. All I all, you leanr some shit about things you don't get on other channels...or even that Hardcore Pawn, which is garbage for sure. We get to see the Detroit thugs pawn their stolen loot and watch them get burned, up there. With all the extra income rolling in, I doubt I would sit on my buns after being broke for years and working from week to week. I'd cash in when the timing is right and make sure I don't kill the cow. Pretty sure Rick has a noggin that works so when the show ends, he won't be in the soup line any time soon. Chumlee?, just there for the ride. Probably will get a spin off testing bombs with a hammer.

My family sells jewelry as a side job, and to travel and collect stuff from all over the world for fun. We sell these super cheap abalone silver bracelets and noticed they had some in the store when we went there! We sell them for like $8 and asked how much theirs were. The guy said they were like $75! Much higher, and the guy insisted that the abalone was in sterling silver. Well we had the same exact merch and abalone jewelry is very rarely encased in sterling silver(it's almost always silver plated), and it's definitely not with the ones we asked about. They lie right to your face. It's pathetic.

This interview was before the Pawn Stars show. Since then they have expanded & made renovations, plus you're not seeing the entire back room in this clip. They are in the vault, walk-in style, which is huge for a vault but is giving the impression the store is small.
@d0wnl0ad311 жыл бұрын
People are hating on him because they are not comfortable with what they have made so far in their lives. They are disrespectful because he is doing something that he loves to do and they are hating the fact that they have no idea how to even get to the point in their life to be at that place where they can finally say they made it. Well Rick did and good for him. I hope everyone else reading this will be able to get all their goals accomplished.

How is this not the top comment? It's gold, Jerry. GOLD! On a side note, whenever I watch the show, I always here them saying, 'we're in a recession', or, 'the economy is bad' whenever they're buying stuff. Yet, he just said in the interview that the bad economy hasn't affected them, and that business is booming'. o_O

I was in Vegas yesterday and today.. I visited the shop on both days and neither of them were in the shop.. just random employees and a BUNCH of people just in line waiting to go inside and look at the cool stuff. The shop went hollywood, its like a museum now but it was still a sexy store lol

The charm of this show is what makes it, IMO, a top 5 TV Show. Whether it's Rick's laugh sounding like he swallowed a chinchilla whole, Corey being a closet hardcore gangster, or the Old Man and everything he does. Oh, and it's hilarious how they have people for the most random things.

Love Pawn Stars, Love Hardcore Pawn. Don't like all the imitation shows that came after them, but I love it regardless. I like watching the transitions more then the actual deals, where you see Corey and everyone interacting with one another. I think they should do their own sitcom series without the Pawn and make it like their life outside of the Pawnshop, because every time I watch the scenes where they aren't making the deals, I enjoy more, it'd be funny to give them a larger platform where they could actually do a "real life" setting based on their day to day activities as a family other then running a Pawnshop.

Napoleon said"Men are ruled by baubles." And he was right. Diamonds belong on the tips of machine tools. And gold belongs on circuitry in space. A primitive culture wears gold and diamonds. They don't do anything just sparkle and shine. Infants are fascinated by shinny objects. Grow up humanity and end you lust for non functional objects and periodic tribal warfare.

What a way to make money and you dont have to work. You buy a item from someone at whole sale telling them it is only worth this much. Then you do nothing to it most times, then put it in a showcase for two to three times what you paid for it and call it a living. You did not produce, make, or invent the item, yet you make money off it. Legalized thievery is the best way to describe it. How long would these guys last if they had to actually work for a living? Can you see Chum lee working on construction?
@desertmulehunter10 жыл бұрын
No, I can't see Chumlee working construction, but I can't picture you working at all with your sour attitude. Your line of thought here is really whacko.....WTH

Been at the same job dude for 36 years. Just the facts and the truth. Modern day rip off. You obviously do not understand what I wrote.
@SomeGuy_GRM10 жыл бұрын
Rick Haggett Of course they sell the item for more than they payed for it, otherwise their business would go under. They gotta pay rent just like the rest of us. You need money and you need it fast? Go to a pawn shop, take the hit. Don't need the money right away? Then either don't sell the item, or try to sell it yourself for they same price they would.

Crooks? In what way? When you enter a Pawn Store you know upfront that you won't be getting full retail value for your item. Pawn store's are also businesses that loan out money as a final resort. There's collateral upfront and it services people with AWFUL credit or people that need money right away. How are they crooks? Do you understand what a pawn shop is? And it's the most historical show on the history channel, actually.
@Locutus13 жыл бұрын
@ILINI85 ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Pawnshops are great if you need quick, instant cash. But there is a price to pay for that, you're not going to get as much as you would if you were to sell it privately. I've seen him buy things for $15,000 and do you think he's really going to make a $100 profit on that? No way. He has to wait for the right buyer. If you look in the shop, by the entrance, they have the Coke Fridge, and Pacman Table that they restored. How long have they been there? A while!
@AnotherSchmoe13 жыл бұрын
@Landroverdude101 Not really. There was one time a woman brought some rare and expensive piece of jewelry in that she supposedly found in her grandma's attic or something crazy like that, and she didn't know jack about it and was asking like $500, Rick offered her $15,000 for it because he knew what it was and didn't want to rip her off.

Storage wars isn't on History... and yes, this show has historical value. It's not a full-fledged historical analysis, but it still contains value in the items brought in. It's called balancing mainstream appeal with channel goals and topics. Take your impotent rage elsewhere.

Guy: hey I have a ton of manure in the back of my truck Rick: It looks like real manure but you have to understand thats what they all say, is it okay if I get an expert to come look at it? Guy:Oh sure no problem I've had this manure for a while and I always wanted to know its true value LATER: Expert: this manure looks authentic but...theres one small problem.. *gasps* Expert continues: It doesnt look like this animal was fed premium grass Rick: Not premium? sorry but I'm not interested
@johnnytastetest13 жыл бұрын
@houseofaction - What I find particularly annoying about Rick's standard bartering technique is when he says, "This is niche item and the number of people who will be interested will be VERY limited, so it's going to sit for a WHILE." Then goes and offers 10% of its real value. I'd be like, "Actually, you have a syndicated series on History and if only ONE of your MILLIONS of viewers in North America is a collector, they can call you and buy it. Pay me more. Now." Ha.

It never occurred to me that the Harrisons were Jewish until Rick made a bit of a political rant on one episode about how the miners were used by their bosses by being paid in company money. Since most Jews have social justice progressive views, I wonder if that was what motivated that little bit of diatribe. Not that there's anything wrong in that.

Gotta love how they portray Chumlee as a bumbling guy that can't afford a pot to piss in when it's been reported that he makes 25G's per episode. I say great on his success but when they guys slaps down $90G's cash for an Italian sports car and the same thing on a Land Rover don't act like he's a poor nucklehead. They try really hard to make them look like "regular folk" but you know anyone that can plunk down 90 large for a car? Just be honest, they are all rich stop snowing the public.

they do offer low amounts but if you had half a brain you would understand that they own a business and the business needs to make money plus over head and a commission to anyone who sells something and who ever is trying to sell it doesn't have to take their offer...and if i was buying something worth thousands of dollars i would have an expert look at it too so i don't get ripped off
