The classical CO² training most suitable for beginner like me.. This video is like a revision for me. Thank you for posting it.. 🤗

combine it with "no contraction" table - I think this combination is perfect for beginners (mainly "no contractions" and some time "classical CO2" table)

For a no contraction table, even if half of your max breath hold is 30 seconds and I start contracting at like 15 seconds, I should stop there? Very new to this and have very poor co2 tolerance.
@KAIZENFREEDIVING9 ай бұрын
If you have an urge to breathe after 15 seconds, it is unlikely because of elevated CO2 (simple because your CO2 wouldn't elevate much for such a short time). Most likely, it's a fear of breath hold it's self. I would recommend you still do no contraction table, but without the stopwatch. At least for a while. Also, check my tutorial of different breathing techniques, which can be helpful kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWXZdHd9qpyaY7ssi=RvaYlFqwa5ylkEhT

I agree with the conclusion that the classical CO2 table trains something desired for beginners and intermediates, but there are still some places where the video could be improved. 1. It is said at 6:15 that the one-breath table is "not a beginner-friendly type of training". This is a severe understatement. Not only it yields frustration, but actually negates and worsens the previous results achieved through the classical CO2 and O2 tables! 2. It is mentioned that the main tool for beginners and intermediates is a "no-contractions table", which happens to train nearly the same phases of a breath-hold as the classical CO2 table. Then, why have the two? If these two tools are essentially duplicate, maybe it's time to call one of them useless? (not in the sense that it achieves nothing, but in the sense that there is a strictly better way to do the same) Point (2) is important given that the "no-contractions table" is so much better because of its self-adapting nature. You made progress? No need to remeasure the maximum and readjust the timings. You feel only 80% well? No problem, the breath-hold time will be automatically reduced to compensate. As Richard Wonka put it (ironically, when discussing some variant of a one-breath table): "I want to train my body, not my watch".

Thank you for a very good comment, Alexander! 1. "one-breath" table (aka Wonka Table), was created to help experienced Freedivers expose themself to a high CO2 level in a short period of time. Beginners don't need it. I mean it can be done, but it is not what beginners should learn 2. The point is like you said," ...nearly the same phases". Classical CO2 table teach a freediver how to be relax while he has a few contractions (at the end of the table), but the "no contraction" table doesn't have this. It is a prime difference. If you allow me to oversimplify, if I have a freediver in my school for a few months, at the beginning it is going to be only "no-contraction", then from time to time "classical CO2" table and only when freediver has more experience, from time to time do "one breath " table. I agree with you in regard to the "no contraction" table. On all our levels it is the main training. But at a certain level, it would be not enough to train only it. Keep in mind that in sport science there is such term as specificity - you are getting better on what you are training (of course there is a cross improvement for a certain degree). So if you train only a "no contraction" table you are not improving your ability to relax during contractions. And this is a very important skill for all disciplines. Let me know if you need any further explanations And thx again for your comment :-)

Does recovery breathing count in terms of time between breath-holding? (Presumably, either way, the rest of that time should be spend doing relaxation breathing?)
@KAIZENFREEDIVING2 жыл бұрын
Good question. Yes, it counts. Recovery breathing usually includes in the time between breath holds.

I'm looking at CO2 tolerance building for running... Idk why I'm watching a video about if it's good for diving...

Actually running can be a good tool for freedivers to improve their CO2 tolerance!

6:14 Do you mean about O2 table and longest breath holds?Is this training for advanced freedivers to get high level of CO2 ?
@KAIZENFREEDIVING2 жыл бұрын
Hi! No "one breath table" is a CO2 table, where the rest between breath holds just one exhale-inhale. Check out this video for more information kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGjZhp9qlLSKf8k

Can I do CO2 and O2 tables in one session? One after another?
@KAIZENFREEDIVING3 жыл бұрын
It will depends on the intensity. If it is "easy" tables, then why not. But if intense, I wouldnt do two. Too much intensity leads to overreaching

What is the problen with high CO2? Just an uncomfortable feeling or something more? I read somewhere that co2 is slightly more acidic than O2 but I dont see the problem and I also read/heard that it can have bad side effects or something. Maybe you have a video on that or what I read was just false and not true
@KAIZENFREEDIVING4 жыл бұрын
To a certain degree high CO2 level is harmless and just creates urge to breath. To much CO2 training though can cause a bit of headache

Dear Crystal Freediving, I do CO2 tables with 2:15sec holds (8x2:15, decrease rest time from 2:00 to 0:30), is it good prepare for spearfishing ambush technique? Best Regards

How deep are you spearfishing?
@mladenca883 жыл бұрын
@@KAIZENFREEDIVING Last time when I was on spearfishing it was 15-20 meters deep with hole technique without any preparation and training for it. But now, I started training 4 months ago (running, sprints, hypocsics squads, streching, apnea walks, o2 and co2 tables, etc.). I will go on spearfishing on the end on august for 2 weeks, I'm planning to try ambush technique this summer. I hope i will do dive 1:30, unfortunetlly I don't live near the sea! Thanks for reply.

Why your maximum breath hold time should not be more than 50% of your best breath hold time ?
@KAIZENFREEDIVING2 жыл бұрын
There is no precise reason. This is just a way to make a classical CO2 table. But, you can change latter everything in this table. Consider it just a starting point :)
@tabula1234562 жыл бұрын
if the purpose is to build a tolerance to CO2 why is the breath held on an inhale? Would it not be more efficient to say: Relaxed breathing, EXHALE and hold for X amount of time, Relaxed breathing, EXHALE and hold for X amount of time...and repeat as many times as required. Why is the breath not held on an exhale? Surely you would reach the uncomfortable CO2 levels quicker and therefore cut your training time significantly?
@KAIZENFREEDIVING2 жыл бұрын
Sure, there is a such thing as a "exhale STA". I made a couple of videos about it kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3ucY5aQlsqGeKc But the main objective in it is not CO2 tolerance

Technically, after 15 seconds, breath hold you won't produce that much CO2 to create urge to breath (contractions). More likely, it's the mental part. I would recommend practicing breath hold without the stopwatch, at least for a while :)
