No preference really---but do love the voice over. You offer us an inside understanding of where your thoughts are going, even when there are "happy accidents" of which I make all the time...some not as happy as others. But nice to see someone else making them as well. Very novice/new to throwing, have hand built for a while and trying the wheel now. Thank you for the video----

Hi Everyone, when you watch pottery videos do you prefer videos in 'real' time or the 2x increase speed? I know everyone is different, and at different skill levels, so hearing from you will help me with future videos, let me know your preference and why? Thanks!

I often skip ahead while you’re doing the routine throwing, but I’m fine with that. And I know that newbies often like real time. I would have spritzed that bottle’s top just a bit so I could carve it better. I do mostly hand building these days - pinching & slabs. Keep up your good work!

I'd love to make an oil/soap dispenser, but how do you measure the opening, taking into account clay shrinkage, for the diameter stopper to fit correctly???
@SarahWaltonPottery Жыл бұрын
Hi! I have since worked out that my clay needs 1" diameter for my soap dispenser and ¾" for my oil stoppers. I use a calliper to measure the stopper, then work out roughly 12-13% shrinkage and it seems to work for me now.

Thank you Sarah for your videos. Where can you get I think you said Gary tool and the crystal that you use for burnishing ? Thanks

Hi Alaine! Im sooo happy you enjoyed my video...that was an old one...Im glad to hear that you found the Garrity Tool, I have a few of them but I use the round one the most! The crystal i use is one that I've had for eons, but you can get them at crystal shops, check google for crystals near me...you'd be amazed! Maybe even try amazon,

Hi Debbie! Thank you so much! It’s called a Drag tool by Mudtools one end is wider then the other so you get a little variety in your carving 😊

How much bigger do you make the necks to except the spouts?
@SarahWaltonPottery11 ай бұрын
During this video I made all the holes too big! Whoopsie! I now look up my clay shrink rate, which is available from the supplier, and add that percentage to the final size. In other words, I measure the cork/stopper I intend to use, then add anywhere from 12-14% (depending on the clay) to the end measurement to account for the shrink... hope that makes sense. 🥰
