I only have about 8 hours riding a motorcycle before all of this... and all of the hours are in the CMSP Course... But I do have my permit tho =)

I remember the first time I rode a motorcycle home from a dealer. Even with years of experience for some reason it’s still such a nerve racking experience. You did awesome, stalling is part of the learning curve and you learned fast! Enjoy 2 wheels!

I been riding a 2023 Z900 SE for about a year. It is my fifth bike. So easy to ride, and I've often thought it would be OK for a beginner, because the seat is quite low and everything is smooth and easy. Looks to me that your clumsiness at first was just lack of familiarity wih bikes in general: not because of lots of power. Anyway, it was satisfying to see you get started on a bike you will not outgrow in 3 months, or ever. Thanks for posting this!

Hey rider, congrats on your new bike. I'm also getting the same exact 1 like yours. You did pretty good for just starting to ride, just take your time and lots of practice. Always remember to always look where you going in order the bike will go where you look. Also when stopping at a light or stop sign always stop on right or left side of lane so you can have a see an escape route. I started riding about 30 years ago but stopped about 5 or 6 years when my kids were babies and started again about 2 years ago. I rode mini bike to 600cc bikes back then and about 2 years ago I bought a '21 Z400 and now I'm looking at a bike that is exactly the same as yours. About the mfs course don't worry much that you didn't pass it, not everyone passes on the first try. I also took the course and failed it the first time and took again about 6 months after and passed it, and in those waiting months I rode my bike, I also rode it way before I got my permit. Anyway, ride safe and have fun and always dress for the slide and not for the ride.

I just got my z900 a week ago after a full year of riding a Rebel 300, and even with a year of daily commuting on my Rebel when I threw my leg over the Z I was still intimidated by it, couldnt flat foot anymore, like 70 extra pounds of weight over the Rebel and 5 times the power… man what a scary yet exciting first ride, I cant even imagine how scary it would had been as my first bike. Way more comfortable now tho but still in rain mode for now 😂

I just got mine last week. Same model with yours and same color. I don't have my full license yet and I only had my permit. My riding experience was in the Philippines, It's my first time to ride a motorcyle over here in the US but I made it I brought it home. So much fun riding this z900

Not bad for a first ride. Nothing wrong with riding on the parking lot for the first 10 minutes. Always good to get a feel for the bike first. Doesn't matter if that takes you 1 minute or 1 hour. Safety first.

Great bike for sure. I've been riding for who knows how long and I just rode my Z900 today. Even after a year or so, this bike feels like a little jet. I keep it in road mode- full power, traction control 2. So smooth and it has tons of power everywhere. Stay in rain mode for a while, then graduate to Road mode. Keeps the rear from spinning under full throttle. I've had a lot of bikes and this one never fails to impress me.

P.S. What made you buy this beast as a 1st bike? The Z is a real forgiving bike to ride. Doesn't get out of hand, unless you want it to. Ride safe.

@@TrustyZ900 I put on Full Power Traction 3. Power delievery is insane. Passing power is insane. Power delivery feels very linear. I was in Rain mode (power L and traction 3) for the first couple days and already got bored of it >.< Walked into the dealership one day and decided I want to get a bike on the spot...I've never ride before, ever. So I told them I want a Z900 as my first bike and they all looked at me like "This guy crazy"... I will eventually sell it and get a manual transimission sports car. But going thru this motorcycle journey is something not everyone gets to experience. Not only I get the perspective of bikers on the road, I've also learn to appreciate the freedom and danger of motorcycle riding. Like wise and thank you for watching.

I went from a 125 to this, omg, I was just like you getting use to the bike when I picked it up. I got them to put it in 55% power mode and went Rain mode steadily home….two months later…my knees scraping on corners, I use full power mode and Sport most times now. Hope you still got the bike and enjoy it. 👍

You might have started on a Z650 but "hey" at least you won't grow out of that one! Lol! Take your time and remember your throttle controls your speed, but your brain controls the throttle hand, use it wisely.

I feel better that i bought a z900 with 0 hours riding a motorcycle now LOL. Stuck it in low power mode with all the TCS for a while. I am thankful at least that my daily is manual so just learning the grab point was the biggest challenge, that and braking independently

One of the things for me and my first bike was the nerves. I was so nervous, especially being out in traffic and not wanting to mess up the flow, that it took all the smoothness out of my actions and made me really jerky. After about a week and 300 miles things really started to fall into place.

Take the MSF BRC. Great intro into riding. I took it 15 years ago, and again this weekend as a refresher. Highly recommend it. Great info and seat time. You’ll approach the bike with confidence and know what to do and what to look for. And things you never think of, such as do you know the correct wrist position and why? Things like this.

This video gave me so much anxiety to watch 😬 Good for you though, just keep practicing. I've been riding my honda shadow 750 for 3 years. In july i bought this exact bike, same color delivered with 0 miles. Been loving it ever since. The shadow feels so slow now it's comical.

This is so funny. In a good way 😂. I was just there a few years ago man. Learned for a month on a CBR300 and then got a GSX S750. I was nervous as fuck. But it got easy really fast. Just watch a bunch of rev matching videos. If you haven’t already. Go out, try, and then watch some more. Ride (practice) often. Get quicker at shifting. You did really good tho for only a cpl hrs on a bike. Balls indeed 👍🏽

So privilege that my guys in colder-climate countries can idle the bike or ride the bike very slow in a tight parking lot, in where I say where the temperature is often reach more than 32 deg.cel. (89F), I have to immediately go to a bigger & longer road which is rarely used by other vehicles in order to reach at least 70km/h (43.4mph) to keep the engine cool. Have to be extra2 careful to be a beginner for a 600+ cc bikes.

Me having to start on a 125 and had to do 2 very strict tests to get my license... Dutch rules are way to strict, but that you can ride everything in america with a permit is just stupid. Nothing against you ofc, doing very good for such short experience.

Yeah, how much we still looking over our shoulders when we pull away or do figure of 8 manoeuvres, mirror signal, manoeuvre s lol. From 125 I went to this, it was crazy to think that but glad I bought the bike and love it. Big learning curve from riding a 125 through the gears to 5th to get to 100 kph but with the 900, I’m doing it in second effortlessly lol.

Why? No point taking a thing that intinidates you: you won't master it. Start from the bike you're comfortable with then learn from there. I would get z900 after 30-40k miles riding sub-600 bikes. It's just too powerful to make use of and no point getting a bike if you can't utilise it.

the US should really enforce actual riding lessons before giving away free licenses. In Europe you wouldn't be allowed to drive like that
