Wish the camera man had taken video of the actual weld bead as the gentleman described what he was doing. Would have been much more beneficial.

Jody from welding tips and tricks says you need to keep your filler rod in the shielding gas envelope not take out you will introduce oxides into the puddle

I have full sleeve tattoos on both arms and welding unprotected like this even just for a few seconds is enough to catch a sunburn... that UV is not good with tattoos. I would not recommend doing any kind of welding without adequate skin protection....

Also the auto tig feed tool that’s sold on eBay is by far the best way to handle and feed tig rod. It’s the only tig rod feed tool that works well

We generally go with Purple Multi-Mix Tungsten in 1/16 or 3/32 depending on what we're welding. www.eastwood.com/eastwood-1-16-multi-mix-tungsten-10-pack-temm-116-10t.html www.eastwood.com/eastwood-3-32-mult-mix-tungsten-10-pack-temm-332-10t.html

Considering learning TIG welding but, know absolutely nothing about it. Can you suggest educational resources for a complete beginner? How are settings on the machine determined? What is meant by "light up slow and terminate slowly"?
@robertstein4128 Жыл бұрын
He is welding with a foot controlled remote, giving him the ability to control his heat. Light up slow, he is basically just saying he is starting up on a lower heat and slowly adjusting his heat hotter until he gets it to his desired temperature with his foot control. Then same thing, but in reverse when ending the weld. If you just abruptly pull out, it can cause a defect.
@robertstein4128 Жыл бұрын
If you already know how to weld with an understanding of it, tig isn't to hard to pick up. Biggest difference is just learning the hand eye coordination of using both hands because you are feeding your own wire. But the basics are the same as any other welding. Control your heat, make sure everything is tied in then everything will start to look better as you put the hours in. People try and make it seem much more difficult than it actually is.

Are you welding on 110, or 220?

Anything over 120 amps needs 220

That's the beauty of TIG, unlike stick or MIG, no spatter. Can use thinner gloves too.
