I'm 48 and purchased Christian hosoi hammerhead. Favorite of all time. I was a " closet skater wanna be" when I was a teen. I was a long haired metal head and it wasn't cool to like skating in our group. But honestly I always admired it actually quite envious because my family was so poor that if I wanted a quality board we couldn't afford it,not even a replica cutout. So I'm starting late like way late i get it. But um im gonna do it. Good luck to all who are doing the same.

58 and just started skating again. Grew up in So California in the 70s and 80s and was really into it when I was a kid. Jumped on a friends long board the other day and was like, damn. This is so cool, but I don't remember the board being so, "oops, i'm out of here" and fly out from underneath me. But keeping it up. Great video

Hey! I made this video with Keith to help make skateboarding and longboarding more accessible, especially for adults. People often dismiss skateboarding as this dangerous activity for delinquent kids when in fact it's one of the most lightweight and portable forms of transportation. If you ever wanted to get into skateboarding or longboarding, I hope these videos help you out! The new channel: www.youtube.com/@sk8daddies/

I noticed you have a scar on your right(?) ankle. I have a similar one from a tib-fib fracture. Still have the hardware. Not to be nosey but is it the same medical situation with you? Also, just started skating again and man, my ankle strength is NOT what it used to be. At.All...
@DanielKwan3 ай бұрын
@@tencentpistol1 Yup same! Bimalleolar fracture. I can still skate, run, and do like 95% of everything I used to do, but moves that require deeper ankle range of motion or strength aren’t happening for me.

5:30 This seems like a great way to have the board shoot out sideways from under you, which has happened to every person who ever tried to stand on my stationary board. Why not just teach people to push and hop on? Way easier, more stable and actually useful!

You should go ahead and learn both goofy and regular. It's not like a snowboard where you need to mount your bindings one way or the other. You can just switch. Also, you wanna learn goofy so when you're riding in traffic you don't have your back to the cars (you can't see them.)
@tencentpistol13 ай бұрын
Switch stance is a fundamental that should be taught from the start. Totally necessary for both street and vert riding.

That’s exactly the type of skateboard I had when I was a kid in California. Probably 1970. I found it in my backyard. It got thrown over the concrete wall. It was just a board with metal skate wheels. I broke my arm on it. Good times. I’m 64 and riding a longboard still.

I just started riding E Skate zero experience at all. 28. I ride regular, and have 300 miles doing so and it feels natural and right. I did the test you guys demonstrated for the goofy/regular test and my right foot went out to stop me. So according to the test I'm goofy, But when I'm on my board, goofy just feels,... Goofy. But not in a good way.

One of the worst into to boarding vids I've seen. There's zero point in starting a newbie balancing primo-- it requires very different balance than riding/standing on the board & it's fairly risky for anyone who might not have the best balance to begin with (eg; new riders). And nearly 3 minutes spent on 'looking cool' while learning to ride? lol you'd think at his age he'd be beyond that shit. Do what you like, have fun, don't worry if you're holding your board the 'cool' way.
@MuttonChops243 ай бұрын
Teaching a primo as the very first thing is diabolical. couldnt watch any more of the video past that. this is reckless and completely stupid and unecessary.
