So the more opaque glass is harder to cut curves?

More opaque glasses are denser and harder to cut in general. You need to put more pressure on your cutter to hear that scratchy noise that indicates you are breaking the surface tension in the glass.

Do you use cutting oil or anything?

Yes I use Novacan non toxic glass cutting oil in my cutters.
