What is the wave size range a fish can handle, and what size do you recommend being 5'8" and 140 pounds?
@user-eg7nj1is7l4 жыл бұрын
fish can go in any size. ive ridden my fish in 1 foot up to 6 foot barrel's. It's the most versatile board imo. Best part is that you don't really have to pump, the board just flies down line in the right conditions. A good fish will take you anywhere you wanna surf.

@AArmstrongC5 ай бұрын
9:01 I did exactly that! From 40 ish liters to 35lts And it was easy to ride and move, BUT! It was still hard to duck dive.. so then I went down to a 29 liters shortboard and what a mistake! I can still ride it, and my positioning advanced a lot! But its too sensitive for my level. So right now Im searching for a 32 or 33 liter fish. Thanks for the video!

Great video. I don't even ride my HP 90's type thruster any more. Only fishy types boards. I would also recommend mid length eggs for someone who wants to step down from a longboard or foamy. 7'0 would be good for most people. It's good to learn how to get your weight back on the tail and turn longer boards, instead of learning to turn only on shortboards.

What size wave are you surfing in this video? I'm on the east coast of NZ, we only have small waves (0.9 set face unless it's a storm and then it's massive) I'm 75-80kg with a 33lt fish, is that to small or am I still struggling to grasp the concept of paddling onto the wave getting up and pumping. I'm 75kg 5.8" been riding a 7.0" mid length/egg 44litres on unbroken waves 1-4ft turning and surfing dtl in one direction so I guess I'm trying to crossover into Intermediate from beginner level. What size Seaside would be good for me? 5.4" 29.8l/5.5" 31.5l/5.6" 32.7l/5.7" 33.6l/5.8" 35.4l? Great channel, thanks.
@HowtoRip4 жыл бұрын
Maybe the 5'8? That is almost a 10L drop in volume and obviously a big drop in size. It is always a gamble when making a big change in board designs like you are doing. If you could try a demo that would be ideal!
@finproductions4 жыл бұрын
@@HowtoRip thanks, yeah hard to find one to demo before buying here. I found a 2nd hand Rusty Dwart 6.3" 42l, would that be a good/better option to step down to? Or is it going to be too big as a fish type board for me to progress on?
@finproductions4 жыл бұрын
@@HowtoRip Or i also found a 2nd hand Firewire Double Agent 6.2"x22.4" 37.6l, i think it's more a hybrid than a fish but from low intermediate upwards and knee high waves up. Would that be a good option? I figure I should wait until I'm confident my abilities are at a good enough level before shelling out for a new Seaside that once I've improved to Intermediate will be too big for me.
@finproductions4 жыл бұрын
@@HowtoRip FYI I've paired a Mark Phipps One Bad Egg 6.10"x20.5" 42.5l with a Mark Phipps Caviar 5.10"x20.25" 34.27l. I think that should be a good combo to get me well into the Intermediate stage. Let me know what you think.

When you say a high performance fish, what does that connote beyond just any fish?

A more 'refined' fish. Pulled in nose, pulled in tail, thinner tail, etc...This lends itself to a more responsive and tighter turning board. Something like the Seaside...
