First time on the channel and I've fallen in love with your work. You are not only a great artist, you are also an excellent instructor. 25 years ago, I developed skills in artisanal ceramics. I was certified as a master craftsman by the Craft Development Office of the Industrial Development Company of Puerto Rico. It was a wonderful experience, as well as very lucrative. Now, seeing your work, awakens in me the desire to work some pieces in wood as a hobby. I am currently 64 years old and never stop learning ''new things''.

Fantastic job. I'm newly retired and a first time viewer/subscriber. Needless to say new to hobbies and carving. A true white dress virgin. With only one shot at life and you don't get any second chances at a day once done, I'm left questioning my decision to work 80 plus hours a week. Leaving me no time for anything else. So now with all the time to explore new ventures life offers I struggle to find something I can put my energy into. I'm hoping you have just opened a door that could make me feel like getting up each day matters again. So Thank you

That was amazing. I actually did see the features of a wood sprite in the wood but I've been seeing images all my life if I allow my eyes to unfocus. I've seen faces that sun light and shadows create, animals in clouds as well as the folds of fabrics, textured walls you name it I've seen something in it. Didn't mean I could draw it because drawing a stick figure is as good as it gets for me. Watching your video made me realize that rather than carving from patterns perhaps I should let the wood tell me what to carve. Perhaps then I could make the leap from carving images to adorn furniture or as gifts to hang on the wall I might be able to carve a figure. I won't call it a sculpture since I am just a beginner but your video inspired me to be more relaxed about what I carve and let the wood tell me what it should be. You may not be pleased with the eyes you've created but I think that the carving is beautiful and I would hang it on my wall with pride. Thanks for a great tutorial and the tip about the burrs.

That's a really cool piece Jordy. I love it. The 'Leaf Man' at the top is called ' The Green Man' in English folk law and is carved into many medieval churches here in England. I've been carving tree spirits for a couple of years or so now with knives and gouges and wanted to try this power carving thing. I'm just finishing off my first attempt but I still keep going back to gouges for the finer details. I think I should call it carving confusion!!! 😂🤣😂
@lmcsquaredgreendale3223
@lmcsquaredgreendale3223 Жыл бұрын
I know this is a response to an old comment but I want to thank you for the information regarding The Green Man in English folk lore. I am going to research that and see what I can find for examples. I have my young nieces and their friends who want unique carvings and I am tired of sprites, fairies and avatars from these TV shows. Perhaps carving The Green Man will make all of us happy as it gives them and me something less commonplace to carve. They all watch these shows that have mystical beings in them and that is what they want. So while calling your work with wood "carving confusion" is funny because you go back to what you are more comfortable with perhaps you should now call it Carving Solutions. I know that as I am learning wood carving using a dremel tool I enjoy the speed of completing the work and the learning curve is accelerated I also am going back to what I know. When I need some area to be flat or smooth as silk and I have the space I use my smallest chisel rather than spend time sanding it down because I feel like I have more control with a chisel. Since I use my chisels I have been thinking of buying some gouges as well. I believe that whatever works for you is never wrong as long as what you produce makes you happy. Thanks again.

Thanks Jordy,that was brilliant, I really enjoyed that, I make a few sticks back here in the UK and I’m always interested in ways to brighten them up, I usually use a wood burning gadget like a dremel and paracord wrap for the handle. I’m currently watching and learning how you do the wood spirits,they always turn out great,so thanks again for the videos mate 👍

@@CarvingFusion Thank you for your reply. Can you explain to me whether this is technically possible? Have you ever seen anyone doing it? I can't find anything on the Internet and I'm wondering why. I'm wondering if it can cause the tree to get sick or if the sculpture gets deformed as the tree grows. Besides, why don't you do it yourself? Thanks

Any spirit fake or real not of God is not good, God sees it as an idol and a part of dark kingdom instead of God's kingdom. Be careful of anything not of God's spirit. May seem innocent, but can come back to hurt you. God is holy and his spirit can't be with you when you are giving attention to another spirit.
