Welcome to the channel Gary. A good wood to carve in here is Macrocarpa, but with power tools you can carve most woods.

Thanks for the video Matt . I love your carving style. I’ve been carving into “purging buckthorn” these last few weeks. The wood is extremely hard but it’s the prettiest wood I’ve ever seen. I’ll upload a vid hopefully today.

I’m a big fan of the longer vids btw 👍

@@MattCarvesit’s when people puke down the thread after feeling an attack. I believe china was born in the 90’s; but still, thinking if I can embroider a purse by copying an old medieval design of a dragon strangling a deer onto it in metal threads, it could be my new profitless hobby of making carved pelmets for my bedroom curtains. Since I can’t acquire them anywhere else.

@@JoeCarvesWoodsee how much money and fingers I can lose on dremels and bits; safer than a sliding chop saw at least. I could start with just a stylus, even etch some modesty panels in the glass, before carving a hole out the brickwork to make way for stained glass arches. (If only I knew how to make stained glass that is; can’t be skilled at everything). As frustrating as it is for one’s skills to be too inadequate to realise their visions.

What a great tutorial. I’ve broken out the dremel, well some of it but have been using it for carving and cutting things other than wood, so not good or expensive burrs. O live dragons so anything with them I love.

I practice on cheap bamboo cutting boards. I get at a local shop that's like a dollar. The bamboo is a little strange to cut or should I say to drimmer on? I also cut up 2 x 4 s used in lumber for framing

Can't say I have ever carved bamboo, sounds fibrous.
