Hi Maria that was a great video for beginners! I have bought 30+ Holbein tubes based on your recommendation in a comment and now I have move than 90 colours between m Graham, mission gold and Holbein . I use pans in the past, but I changed to tubes after discovering you on youtube and I like your painting method so I made the change. Looking forward to your new video ! 😃
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын
Hi Celes☺️That's wonderful 😀tubes last longer and they are great for larger washes. I just like freshly squeezed paint. You really don't need much paint on a palette because the pigments are so highly concentrated ☺️Thank you so much!! very happy to hear this as I will have more beginner videos coming up soon☺️🌸😀

Thank you so much for explaining this process. I have created color swatches but they never showed the intense to light variations. They were always too intense or too light. This is priceless!

I agree with the eyes being a big key. For me i make smaller swatches and keep them with the paints. I just opened a box from Dick Blick and there are 4 golden natural bristle brushes. I look forward to trying them. PS the smaller swatches are only because I have too many different paint sets, you are smart to stick with Holbein paints. Good to “hear” you today. Essie
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын
Hi Essie :) thank you so much and that's awesome! yay for your new brushes :) I got hooked on Holbein watercolors the first week I started using them back in March... I just love the colors, the vibrancy, it's exactly how I paint so they "compliment my paintings" lol Thank you Essie :) my new schedule is actually posting full videos (paintings) every Tue-Fri-Sat and once in a while like today, I will be sharing watercolor tips videos like this one and some short vid tutorials for beginners :) ☺️🌸

I'm pretty new to watercolors and until now I've been using really cheap supplies but I reached the point where I really couldn't do what I wanted to do with a set of ten dollar paints, so for Christmas I'm getting a bunch of new supplies. I spent hours picking out 15 tubes of holbein paints and I spent so long looking at the different swatches I was actually able to recognize a lot of these colors before you labeled them! I'm so excited to get my new paints and swatch them, and I'm already saving up so I can get more colors. Now I just have to wait until Christmas to get painting!
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын
Hi :)) that's so awesome, I am so happy for you to get these paints.. they will last for so long. I still have my first 30 small tubes I got in March. After that I was just adding more colors to complete my palette. The thing is I only run out of three tubes.. that's how long they last :)) The pigment is very strong. you will love them! I need to create a list of basic 15 colors and post it to my website so it's easier to choose :))☺️🌸💕Thank you so much and Merry Christmas to you😍
@TamAnds7 жыл бұрын
Merry Christmas to you as well! Their strong pigmentation is one of the main reasons that I chose these paints, I really love bright, vibrant colours. I'm glad to hear they last so long too, that's what I was hoping for! If you create a list of the 15 basics I would love to read it!

Hi Christine☺️🌸Thank you so much!! so kind of you ☺️If you are a beginner then this is definitely something I suggest to do (if I was teaching you in person, that would be your first task haha)☺️🌸it's so helpful to have these in front of you💕
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын
aww yes.. forgot the question. I started using Holbein in March and I felt in love right away... before that I was using Winsor and Newton, Cotman, Van Gogh, Reeves, Grumbacher, tried Sennelier, but got stuck on Holbein :)

I have a question i am considering buying some holbein watercolors but i am struggeling a bit to decide wheter i should buy the 108 set or the 60 color set, and seeyng you have experience with these paints i was wondering if you have any recommendations
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much :) so you really don't need every single color Holbein has (you can create your own shades out of what you have) but you do get more options and I have almost all their colors because I just love colors and experimenting with them and having the variety. If you don't want to spend much money, I'd say go with 60 but if you can then go for the full set :) You will love them!! xx
@shiyanti7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын
Good for you :) Holbein paints are amazing so you will love them. You will notice how vibrant they are and how much easier it is to control them because they don’t add oxgall to their paints. When you get your set I highly recommend to first do color swatches! Oh that will help you to get the right feel of colors and you will loveeee them :) xx
@JohnArnoldPhotography7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Maria - ironic you created this, because a couple of weeks ago I bought the 60 set of Holbein colors (based on your advice and direction), and have been wanting and need to create exactly what you show in this video, as I now have 80+ colors between Holbein and M Graham - yikes!
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын
woohoo that's a lot of paints John :) that's really awesome and you better make these color swatches now haha no class for you until you have them up on your wall lol

у меня вопрос к тебе Мария в акварели всегда надо сначала работы замачивать бумагу?
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын

how much your expenses on painting
@mariamorjane7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ritesh, it depends what country you are from, in the US, Holbein watercolors are between $6-$18 (per tube). It depends what color and how big your tube is. On Amazon.com there's a deal where you can get 60 small tubes for $126, that's the best deal I have seen because you get one small tube for about $2 and it lasts for a very long time, I have some of these small tubes and they have already lasted me for 9months or so (the pigments are very concentrated). Arches papers depends too, the pads start at $12 and go up. Blocks are more expensive. If you go to "Community" section on my KZbin Channel, you will find links to Amazon where you can buy some of these supplies :)
