I'm from EU and got the paid ad subscription notification yesterday, along with many other family members. Obviously nobody was willing to pay for the monthly subscription. Because we're so used to using these apps for free. And honestly the ads on Instagram and Facebook are not like ads on KZbin, where you're obliged to watch the initial 5 seconds. You can simply scroll down which takes less than 0.1 millisecond.

Yep. And Meta likely hopes you don't sign up. There's virtually no benefit to them if you do.
