@@sunnyday7457no one is comparing who has been hit worse. There is a difference when people move to Florida with the knowledge that hurricanes hit every year (I’m not saying ANY community deserves to go through this level of damage and destruction no matter WHERE they live, but the knowledge that it’s common in Florida is entirely different from the biggest flooding disaster in recorded history in this part of the Appalachians (several hundreds of miles from any coastline ) in an area that is not even “on the radar” for things like this. It’s not that it’s only bad when it happens to us, it’s the fact that it is a complete freak situation hitting where it did this time around. We have helped out in Florida cleanups as a family before and also to Oklahoma after tornados. No one wants to compare disasters to figure out “who has it worse”.❤ I hope that makes sense.

Western NC resident and wounded warrior family here. We are up closer to Boone and we can definitely use help up to the north. There’s no thank you big enough to express our gratitude for all of these wonderful people from other states coming to our aid. Several years ago when tornados hit in Oklahoma, our family ran big rigs and trucks with supplies out to them and helped with medical needs (we are both medically trained) and now we are on the flip side of the coin and I now understand the feelings those we had helped had. We in NC will remember you always and your kindness is appreciated more than we can express. Real Americans looking out for each other h orher❤❤❤ im so sorry that ANYONE was rude to you in any way because that is just disgusting when you have given us supplies, effort in clearing and manpower, and time away from work and families. There are things here that you will never unsee and many will have emotional responses to the enormity of it all. People who are being rude have no excuse to be so, but I think many around here have just snapped due to an overload of distress. The people who are rude, taking advantage, or looting people’s homes, cars, and businesses, you will have to reconcile with God one day if you escape justice now. Thank you again to each and every volunteer here helping and those who donated items ❤

Looks to me like people have gone overboard with donations. Sure, a lot of people want to help, but the people impacted only need so much stuff. People who have compketely lost their homes are likely staying somewhere else. If they have stuck around they don't have anywhere to put a bunch of stuff. Those who haven't lost their homes likely don't need all this stuff. Roads are opening. Power has been restored for many. The immediate needs seem to have been met. Everyone is loaded with stuff. The mountains have been my home for 29 years, while many of us have learned through our culture to do for ourselves, by way of hunting, fishing, gardening and canning, many are not physically able to do this. We won’t take more than we need, that being said, supplies need to come in intervals as our hubs begin to empty, due to lack of options for storage. Due to weather conditions, many need ways to keep warm without power or adequate shelter, considering many lost their homes they worked decades for. Propane, fuel, generators, blankets, sleeping bags, warm layering clothes, boots, socks, Jackets, toboggans and gloves, little buddy heaters and small propane tanks to run them, hot hands…etc.. would mean the world to those combating the cold. Local fire departments are supply hubs, but so many are so full. I would recommend finding local churches that you may see people congregating at, maybe a local supply store, like a farm store. I really hate that you are running into so much trouble just trying to offer aid and assistance when so many need that. We are not the most trusting people and while it may seem like we are being rude, many of us are just trying to rebuild and help our neighbors and focus so diligently on our work to take our minds off of things. No one here was prepared for this, we prepare for snow but weren’t taught to fear the water. We rely on each other and what our elders taught us. Please don’t let that throw you off or keep you from doing what you are. There will be more need as time goes on for food and supplies. If you can find alternative storage options and bring supplies in different trips, to places like chimney rock, bat cave, lake lure…the places truly almost washed off the map. The work to clean up won’t be over for a very long time, but when the money dries up, people will begin to learn, you never could eat it.

Thank God he will be long gone before we have another outbreak of it here in the state..although I do fear that is coming for the flooded areas as part of round 2 of the great plandemic! Please pray they don't bring that to these areas I'm already worried about other types of diseases that are going to crop up from the flooding and the bodies not being recovered quickly enough.

Believe me I didn’t vote for this idiot, and hate to say he’s from the same county I grew up in.

Plenty of other people have seen the military and FEMA. There were military helicopters flying over my yard consfantly for over two weeks. They have to be where there are the most people in need. There was a FEMA evening event in my town where they processed over 100 people in that short time. The governor of NC has also been on the ground assessing damage and doing everything possible to help. Stop trying to politicize a tragedy.

As a resident and a chimney sweep near Spruce Pine helping others we are so grateful for all the good folks who did what these folks have done. True Americans helping others asking only to be helpful. Amazing to see all the love being poured into the lives of folks who were decimated

It's frustrating to have the means to help people but can't find the right location that needs it! Hang in there and what you all are doing is appreciated even if its not an instant gratification! 😍

I live in western N.C. First let me say thank you. My nephew and I took 2 trucks of supplies over near Burnsville. We hooked up with a pastor who was able to get us in a little town down on the river. The police were only letting the residents in. So the pastor got us in. They took all the supplies we brought. We even hauled 2 trucks of diapers to another aid station for them since they had so many.

Thank you all for trying!! Some places have people who are dishonest. I pray for their recovery and I have sent some things through a local church. I am so glad there are people like you who care.❤❤

Dude... Pottsy from Carrollton, Ohio.. I was down there last weekend with a supply run I put together from my area.. I ended up in at Destiny Church in Sylva, NC.. I am thinking about running back down again early next week.. It is hard to find a location that really needs help.. I ran into the same stuff.. God Bless The American Spirit.. Keep up the awesome work.. 🇺🇲💪🫡👍
