Always amazed at how well trained these horses truly are. I was taught not to ever walk behind a horse without putting a hand on their rump to let them know you are there; yet these horses never react to someone behind them. Horses are brilliant! Can't help wondering if the sight of someone they are quite used to seeing while in the horse boxes helps to calm them; speaking of John, of course.

I'm glad that you got invited to the barracks. You do more to 'Big up' the household cavalry than any journalist. Horses….the one thing you can predict with horses is that things will be unpredictable…….you’ve just always gotta be prepared for anything, and double that in cruddy weather😉 And yes, EVERY time it rains I cringe knowing how much work is being undone by the weather on the tack and troopers kits. Very impressed by the Blues mounts……they’re all being very calm and steady today. Rotten Row is an inner city bridleway…..not something you come across in many cities these days, but it’s also used by the riding school in Hyde Park. I often used to see horses on the Row in the early mornings when I was in London. 😂heart in my mouth when the officer right in front was walking backwards…….which is ALWAYS an iffy prospect in spurs 🤭 It’s SO easy to step on one and trip or lose the spur😂 First time we’ve seen the female Blues captain I think. Scottish hunh John? What gave that away? The plume? 😱😂 tbh I’d have been happy to keep watching the inspection but I’m a bit weird🤣 I’m personally hoping for a Blues win this year, but we’ll see. Don’t they look stunning lined up tho? Photos happen next I’d imagine…..it’s like kids photo day🤣😎

Well I'm weird as well Pauline 😂I would have been happy to watch everything from start to finish . I would love to know what was on the check lists , the ones getting wet in the rain 😀. How fortunate are we that John was asked to be there and we as viewers got the chance to see it through his eyes and listen to his commentary ! I admit to being biased but I kept watching one of my big favourites Monty he was very relaxed , one of those whose attitude is " been there , done it got the t shirt " 😍. Hearts must have dropped when it was raining all that hard work by the Troopers . Line up for a photo call for the judges , then off for tea and bikkies or something along those lines 😂😂😂

Thank you for part 2 and it must have been a wonderful and great honour for you to have been there. Ormonde wasn't so relaxed afterwards, probably too much hustle and bustle around him then he likes to become a no ear horse and snaps at anything that gets too close to him, no matter what rank. And speaking of ranks, I was able to pick up a lot of study material on the uniforms (also nice to see some familiar faces flitting by here and there), thanks a lot for that. Visually speaking - after all, I don't mess with people's picture material without asking permission first.

Love learning the traditions via your videos & commentary, and enjoy getting to see the men, women & horses who serve! Well done everyone, including serving musicians. Growing up music has always been my go to. During the last jubilee for the late queen elizabeth, i was in awe of the band riding horseback while plàying. In american high school, i participated in marching band for field performances & parades. It could be challenging memorizing field movements in choreogràphy while playing, but doable, yet seeing the musicians playing on horseback was beauty of discipline to watch. Thank you for sharing your videos with us!
