Once source I found specifically said “Depicting the Wanjina in their contemporary art is a significant way in which Wanjina-Wunggurr people educate their children and grand-children regarding their cultural beliefs, their individual and group identities, and their connections to country. It is, moreover, a way for Wanjina-Wunggurr people to convey to the outside world that Wanjina-Wunggurr society is distinct, strong and enduring..” To distill most of what I could find (an Australian FGO player I know did dig trough quite a a few declarations and articles): The only rule for depicting the Wandjina is you can't do traditional art (or claim doing traditional art) without the right permission. There isn't anything for cartoon or such things because it's not a bastardization it's an adaptation. Some seem happy about representation, as it keeps their traditions from being forgotten, others are more skeptical of representations outside traditional art but are not as much against it as they are against mimicking traditional art without instructions.

Australian of Aboriginal decent here, you got most of this spot on, the only error I noticed was at 2:05 the aboriginal tribes date back 40,000 years not just 4000
@ILOVETOKOYAMITOWA Жыл бұрын
hey just wondering, what do you think of them adding this spirit? I see a lot of people talking about how horrible it is that they added wandjina when only trained elders can portray them, but what do you think?
@zvreaper16 Жыл бұрын
@amongusbadungus quick disclaimer: Before I give my opinion, I don't know which tribe I'm decent from as that knowledge was lost to my family 3 generations ago. While the tribe that worships Wandjina might have a problem with it due to how uptight they have been in the past, I feel as though it's a great way for people like me who are disconnected from their heritage or for people who are from outside Australia to learn about the first nations people and cultures. To get semi-political for a second, I also feel the controversy surrounding Wandjina is partially fueled by the upcoming referendum regarding Aborigines

@@zvreaper16 oh, thank you a lot. I was just curious to see what someone of native Australian descent thought of this matter
@danteastral96658 ай бұрын
@@zvreaper16 I couldn't agree more, the wonderful thing about the franchise is the rediscovery of the myths and legends, and though not all of it correct, they usually do put much research on the explanation and do what they can with all information. Not to mention that the way their lore works is that it is the subconscious of humanity that creates these forms for servants, perfect example is Wandjina at this moment, though it is disclaimed that it isn't a space helmet it is because some believe it that the subconscious of humanity formed it even if its incorrect, just like poor Vlad is made into a vampire despite never being one.

If FGO is willing to add characters from other countries, I hope for a Brazilian character in the future, the folklore and myths here are pretty crazy and would make some cool servants.

"Cool Wandjina Facts: I am aware that we have had Australian rep in FGO before but they don't count." Even Cooler Wandjina Facts: While Rasputin and Summer Cnoc are Australian due to Bahloo and Yaraan-doo respectively, outside of FGO they are in fact not the first "Australian" Servant. That honor goes to the unnamed Servant that teams up with Anubis in Fate/Requiem. Or at least, I suppose it TECHNICALLY goes to them, since Erice and Koharu deduce that they are "probably" from Australia. Sadly, as we all know, Requiem is currently sitting in release limbo, so at present we're likely to never actually get their identity.

From what I understand from the translated event is that the fgo Wandjina is an elemental like Yu, but is from space that arrived during the age of dinosaurs. After meeting the Chaldea during the last summer event and received a gift she wanted to repay the favor. Frankly the whole thing with XX is probably just her thinking it’s the servant verse one. Wandjina doesn’t remember what she described at all.

So basically it's not that type moon didn't want to include Australian based servants, the issue is more how protected the mythological and historical figures are and the inclusion wandjina let alone the idea of an entire ordeal call set in Australia is it's own controversy which may explain why fgo JP has been quiet for the past month up till her release
@henriquebecker4453 Жыл бұрын
Just like the saints and gods in FGO, the in game Wandjina have very few semblance with the traditional paintings and thus shouldn't be considerate a crime even for the tribes standarts. Because the game chage so much in universe history in comparison to real life history they make it very clear what actual history is like and what the writers made up, in this sence they can make whatever bs character they want and just slap any myth they like on that character.

To be honest now that i got the full context. It doesn't look like fate one will have problems or at least too many,its fact that is TOO different is what actually saves it. If i understand correct the problem is representing then in the way that the people do because there is a lot of religious belief about that form and doing that.

I feel like the cultural weirdplace is awkward imo because Wandjina isnt supposed to be an actual Wandjina but inspired by the Wandjina, but on the other hand, it seems kinda sacreligous to depect a deity in any form other than in reverence so who knows That's just what I think, until someone actually qualified to speak up about it does, I think Wandjina in Fate will be fine
