Based on my experience (watching hundreds of these shows ) 1/you can prosecute a person again evidence at this magnitude 2/ he was most likely killed and the scene set up that way

WTF?! Horrible person. You can also hear how he under-estimates her intelligence in that conflict. Divorce should be an option if one of the parties does not see a way forward. Otherwise it becomes a hostage-type situation. A pregnant woman is so vulnerable. She did the best thing getting out. This would just have gotten worse.
