The girl was a money-grubber for sure but, he had a new wife and new life I don't believe he did half those things to Betty. He wanted to be rid of her and get on with his life she's the one who wanted things to go back to the way they were. When you move on and leave someone you don't keep them in your life by making things difficult for them that makes zero sense right?

Turn that situation around. The anger a man would feel if a woman did that to his life would build up into deep aggression very fast. That idiot tore apart the very fabric of that woman's existence. My best friends sister went through everything that Betty did….she worked her a$$ of and put her husband through school and once he became a rich, successful architect, he traded her in for a younger version. She ended up having a nervous breakdown, hospitalized for months for treatment and while she was in the hospital, he took advantage of that to gain custody of their five year old child. Though she didn’t murder him and his new young wife, she did take her daughter and ran with her. She served some time for doing that and was lucky that she didn’t get a kidnapping charge. Her ex and his new wife literally rubbed their new extravagant lifestyle in her face for years. She finally moved far away from them once she realized that she couldn’t have her child back, went back to school, met and married a much nicer and more successful man than her ex and had a great life. Her daughter came back to her when she became of age and she had so much hate towards her father for keeping her away from her mother. They now have a wonderful relationship. Her daughter is now married and had a child of her own. My heart goes out to Betty. Murder is wrong, 100%, however I can see how a person can be driven to do the unthinkable when their life collapses around them and another person steps in and takes over their life.

I think you need to watch the whole trial. Her friend that is speaking on her here was a ride or die friend, stood by her no matter what. Betty was proven a liar in everything she claimed. She NEVER wanted her kids. She fired one lawyer cause he filed motions to get them when she hadn’t told him to. She also told her husband at the beginning that if he gave her a million dollars she’d walk away from it all. He tried to not file restraining orders against her but she would not stop harassing them. The way she spoke to her kids was horrendous, that’s why they have such animosity to their mom. That trial showed her for who she was and the prosecution tore her story to pieces, the therapists disclosed what was told to them, she didn’t love him, he was money to her and he OWED her, she couldn’t handle that he left her because he took an image from her. Her own children discounted most of what she said about Dan. I was on her side till the trial, by the time all was revealed I couldn’t stand to hear her voice.

Many women have been left by their wealthy husbands for younger women, but they don't murder them do they. Betty started leaving the kids at Dan's house. That was wrong. Both of them are at fault, but Dan and Linda should never have been murdered. I understand that Betty gave a lot of her life to support Dan through school etc., but, she should have just left with the $16,000 a month for her, and with the kids, Dan would have had to pay more for child support. So she would have been pretty well off, and she was still beautiful, she would have had no problem getting another man.

BB was pushed and pushed towards the edge, until she snapped. What BB ended up doing was very wrong in the eyes of the public of the time, but taking all things into account [that were detailed in court] it's not so hard to understand what can make people in certain relationships snap. The couple knew each other perhaps too well, if that's possible, and certainly knew how to push each others buttons. This documentary is not the best available as the retelling is not the most detailed I've seen, and the acting is not good enough in the playbacks to give the viewer much of a connection to the story. But, at least it gives a half decent entertaining 44 minutes in which to explain what happened. The best TV movie to date, if people want to follow the story in it's entirety has got to be the TV movie - A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story - Staring Meredith Baxter, Stephen Collins, 1992 ]. I am still giving a positive thumbs up to this BEYOND CRIME channel, as I've followed it for a while, and it's one of the better crime channels out of the many that are on YT. Have a sweet day.

I understand why Betty did what she did. She sacrificed to help her ungrateful ex husband to get to where he was. How did he think it would make her feel when being tossed aside so he gets his rocks off ending up with a younger woman & everything going well for him? Selfish!

He made her doing this. She sacrificed everything to him, it shows how much she loved him. When at last he did something of himself, he goes flirting around and destroys her. He should have honoured her for all these years she gave for him and divorce righteously instead of taking everything from her. Kids have also forgotten what she did for them and how their father was not taking care of them. He took everything from her. I would certainly lose it if something alike would have happened to me. I I don't think she is a threat to the society. Obviously she was devoted and liked before he betrayed her and put her under the buss. Linda, she should know better than to have an affair with a married man with kids. No one deserved to die, but she Betty did not deserve to be treated like trash after all she went through for her family. I am heartbroken to know that her kids, those she fought for, those she gave everything, those she raised, turned their back on her. Ungrateful kids. They have become like their father, in their nice house and rich life while their mother was treated like trash... It is a tragedy and I think she should be relieved. Thinks yourself, it has been at least one time, when your husband/partner did something which made you mad, and you just wanted to kill him. The pain she felt drove her to rage and she did it. But she would not have become like this without him pushing her to the limit.

Her "smaller" monthly allowance was $9,000.00 per month in addition to all home/gardener/pool boy/maid etc. In court, she said "Sure I spend about $3,000.00 a month on clothes". BYW $9,000 then is about $50,000.00 now.

Not saying, I'd have done the same or that is was the right thing to do. But mainly for herself. Killing the two has given the final blow to her life. But Dan's behaviour was quite horrible and unfortunately very common too. How often did any of us see something like this - a woman who worked her fingers to the bone to support her unloyal and ungrateful man and he ultimately switching her for a younger woman once he is successful. And now he's treating her with unbearable arrogance. I can comprehend that you can lose your marbles if you're already not very stable to begin with. And his second wife... In my opinion women should not be doing this to each other. If you know he's married, stay away.

Dan appears to have narcissistic traits, and only a person who has had a narcissistic spouse can fully understand the way it messes up your mind and literally destroys you. They have control over every aspect of your life; punishments such as denying her, her independence by with holding money for cussing, and access to her children, which would've helped her rebuild her self-esteem; he intentionally kept her insecure, and mentally on the edge. Narcissists know exactly how to destroy the mental, emotional and physical well-being of their victims who generally are unaware what is happening to them. Know the red flags and run fast and far away from sadistic, toxic narcissistic people. Narcissism is recognized as a personality disorder today and it has degrees of cruelty; it results from childhood trauma.

The series in Netflix left me scarred for life..she literally sacrificed everything to support Dan and he expected her to be a good wife and mother..she did everything right..and ppl who say 'living with dumb choices' please understand that we are talking about 80s when women still wanted to stay with the man for the sake of the family. Betty's own family were not supportive. Where would she have gone? She spiralled out of control coz Dan planned the divorce in such a way that left her with no one. He didnt even grant the custody of his kids; he never took care of his kids; it was Betty. So yes, I am glad she killed both of them. They deserved to die. The price she paid for loving someone. Its a lesson to everyone not to be blind in a relationship and not to give anyone too much of importance coz they will be the ones to leave you when you need them the most.

Out of her 9 pregnancies, they only had 4 children. Having that amount of miscarriages shatters a woman. He was a classic narcissist - what he made her go through was downright evil. Threw her away like garbage at the time when she thought he’d finally be home, he’d finally be a proper dad.. he took the floor beneath her feet, took her children away & used his knowledge of the law & her personality to completely shatter her. The netflix show portrayed them accurately & watching it, breaks ur heart.

He lied and betrayed Betty over and over again. He, being a deceiving lying narcissist would have left Linda in the same way he left Betty the moment she got older the moment life became less shiny and exciting.
