That’s because the choices were yours. They weren’t forced on you. Everything was organic. The people who interacted with you weren’t pretending but being themselves. You cut off people you didn’t like and no one bat an eye. You talked to people who you liked back and both of you reciprocated. You met people you liked and had genuine long lasting friendships, who were there for you, never too busy to see you and supported you. People let you LIVE and flourish, while they lived and flourished themselves. You were surrounded by WHOLE and lovely people. Not broken, traumatised and flawed people, who never attain happiness, fail to find happiness, ruin every second of every day, know how to put you off in seconds and can’t see you happy or successful. You were safe from traumatised, cynical, pessimistic and broken people. Surrounded by WHOLE and lovely people. Of course, that will make you happy.

KZbin recommended this video. I decided to watch it because the title captivated me. I guess we gravitate towards things that we resonate with. I've always felt like my life is a mess; it has no direction. So, yeah. Why not give the vid a shot? In the course of the video, there was a mention of "Nothing goes to waste" which has always been my motto in trying to justify all the seemingly useless stuff that I did in my life. I felt validated. But the truth is, it's only when I look back that then I could connect the dots. Truly nothing is wasted. I think as long as we are moving forward and just striving to do things that matter to us, there will be a reason for it in the future and only then will we realize that the thing we did was not a waste. But, of course, when we know for certain that what we're doing now is not useless, it does help ease the anxiety. But life is full of unknowns. I guess we just have to trust that what we're doing right now is what's meant to be.

All of this is very nice. The problem is what to do when you get stuck at 40, with regret, alone, in a place you don't want to live, no money, a handful of additions, a career you don't like at all that cost you a great deal economically and mentally for 20 years and is the only thing you know how to do, out of shape and all your friends and family seems to be on track. And you know all is your fault, feel deep guilt cause you had all the resources at your disposal and multiple chances to get it right , but you wasted them all. And now, you can't find the energy/motivation/drive to start going the other way. It is a strange feeling with you have already given up, but you don't care any more.

48:03 I'm just like Robert Greene, a classic introvert who just can't stand political and social games, especially now that I'm almost 37 years old and have worked so many different jobs. Being an Entrepreneur, Business Owner, and Investor right now, I just can't stand the thought of going back to the same old games where I have to live up to other people's (often low / pathetic) expectations, rather than just living up to my own expectations. Also, I could care less about what people think, and would rather not be bothered with that issue either because, at the end of the day, nobody gives a shit about you anyway unless you serve their self-interest. Now, I don't really mind working for and with other people but the position has to be at least as independent as possible.

Mr Robert Greene is the not only the best author, but the best psychologist . If you want a brutal , honest advisor, he is the ONE.He can teach us to improve the behaviour especially when you are new to the job.

Thank you a lot Mr Greene for all your work. I have just completed reading the law of nature book, i am re- reading the 48 laws of power , and mastery. I am becoming reacher and better with these materials. Thanks a lot for making your work easily accessible. May you be spared longevity for more materials to come out of your life

I like that your way of interviewing has provided a chance to hear Robert's words in a sort of spontaneous chat. I could clearly hear what he had to say about different things- which is incredibly helpful.

You can control much of your life when you learn self-dialogue which is big part of your thinking. Another way to be in control is to recognize & manage your emotions. Not feelings because feelings are not good or bad. They are just temporary. I can easily go from feeling unpleasant to feeling pleasant. Emotions are much different. Emotions are a whole lot more important because they reveal our attitude towards life. I can choose to have HOPE, LOVE, JOY & AWE. As opposed to HATE, FEAR, GUILT & DESPAIR. Which is what an older brain experiences. A younger brain starts with mad, sad & glad. A developed brain can feel hope and as a result develop, for example, consistent enthusiasm. Which is VERY important. Also, LOVE is a VERY powerful emotion. When I love myself naturally I have an inclination to love the people that I'm closest to. Vice versa. When I love the people that I'm closest to, it becomes easier to love myself even more. A similar emotion is AWE. When I am in awe of someone or something, it opens my eyes to other people and other things that are AWESOME that I just didn't recognize before. Joy is fairly easy to obtain. Instant gratification doesn't take much effort. But, joy through delayed gratification takes patience and brings MUCH greater REWARDS. That is why the adage is: PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE. A lot of positive attributes are important to have. Persistence is huge. Resilience is obviously important. Gratefulness is also huge in that it can help me from feeling too much "self-pity". Confidence is huge because it is the by-product of success. I succeed through great daily habits and achieving many small goals that lead up to a larger goal. One last thing to help. Have pictures of loved ones for inspiration and have pictures of your successful events to get to your most important goal. What do you think that most important goal might be? USUALLY, IT IS YOUR NEXT ONE. One very last thing to help. You can either make things happen, watch other people make things happen or have things happen to you. It is up to you.

It's funny Robert mentions at the very end that he wasn't being himself and that he needed to be himself, while in another interview with Patrick David about the "Laws of Human Nature", he stresses the importance of being a good actor and NOT being yourself. But I guess in essence he just means that you just need to be true to yourself and who you are, and then be a good actor with other people around you who do not know or see your true self. Only you know who you are, not other people. You show them what they like to see.

It's so much more important than some of you may realize that you have to do work you're passionate about and give it your best shot *every time*. If it fails, you can know that you did your best and then you can learn off of that failure. On a 30 year journey you're going to have a lot of failure if you want to have a lot of success, especially early on. Also the 10,000 hour rule is real, even if the numbers arent exact. That's how long it takes to get sufficiently better than everyone else because they drop out.
