It's pure gold getting Tony on to the subject of Teslas.

Tony they are some of the highest rated Cars in the satisfaction charts. People like them, they like how effortless they are to drive. A Seven year old will point out a Tesla at 200 yards without any advertising. The seats are massive improvement 2021. Tony is so out of touch it’s enjoyable, yeah how many Cars burn. Tesla threaten his business because younger generation doesn’t want to own a Car and have a mill stone sitting costing a fortune they want to press an app and a car turn up to use for a few hours. They do burn longer and more difficult to put out if they do go on fire but do it very slowly just need to look at that Girl 21 year old in the states a utuber best friend in his Lamborghini on Halloween. Regardless of who was at fault getting hit side it burned so rapidly they couldn’t get her out that’s self combustion. RIP Tiara Van Northwick.

@@SWR112 I´ve noticed that Tesla brought interest in cars from people that never before care about them. Could this be an indication that most people who highly regards Tesla, whether owners or not, haven´t experienced other cars in that price bracket? And those who experience tons of brands up close (such as Tony), can´t deal with the Hype? I mean, a Tesla Model X is soooo nice, but then you get in a X5M or an Audi RSQ8.... And you realize the X isn´t that nice, but actually a bit off in many departments, yet the biased praise remains.

It surprises me that no KZbinr (excluding Sam's X3) ever buys a lower engine model than the absolute top one. It's always Turbo S, or RS, or AMG, or 'M'. Personally I get the largest engine'd version that doesn't creep into those special versions. My last 5 cars have been Mercedes E400 T (V6 333ps), Mercedes S500 (V8 435ps), Mercedes E500 T (V8 435ps), Mercedes E500 (V8 408ps), BMW 545i (V8 333ps). In no instance have I wished I had the AMG or the M when it comes to comfort, suspension and sensible noise levels. Those extra 100-200 horses on the top end are so rarely used, even on the Autobahns in normal traffic. My suggestion for Sam is the car I test drove last week ... BMW X5 50i (450 ps). Or the car I'm testing tomorrow ... BMW 540i Touring (340 ps).
@callummccubbing45063 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'd far rather have the power/speed and yet keep the understatedness of the car. Although I do like the M40i a lot. Do you reckon a Macan is somewhat understated if it wasn't a GTS?
@MrJordanSDean3 жыл бұрын
The answer to that is simple: people admire the higher end models, nobody wants a mid tier model
@veemacks72553 жыл бұрын
@@MrJordanSDean That's a very show-off attitude though. In 99% of scenarios, you'd enjoy driving the top-engined comfortable non-AMG/RS/M model. Is it really worth paying up to 50% more to get the top model for that 1% of driving scenarios where those extra horses make the difference? Not for me. It's not the price that drives that decision for me, I can afford the top models, it's value for money and usability.

Bit of paper blew in front of the car, radar thought we were going to crash and slammed the anchors on. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Tesla fan at all, but the 'it slams the brakes on while you're driving it' isn't a good reason not to get a Tesla, it's a good reason not to get any car with radar tech.

They are terrible around corners, and the suspicion is really bad on uneven surface. Quality is crap, lots of paint issues, cheap interior. And I live in Norway where there are millions of them. Tony's comments about Tesla building poor quality automobiles is well documented. JD Power most recently gave Tesla an unofficial rating of 231 in initial quality based on owner feedback (this number represented an improvement of 19 points from the previous year). The industry average is 162. Of note, Audi and VW also got poor scores. Tesla's number is unofficial because the company won't allow JD Power to survey customers in all states in the US. Tesla's battery and power pack engineering is legendary. But, there manufacturing, fit and finish, and repair support are poor.

I had a 981 Cayman before and I think the 997 (possibly the 991.1) are the last 911's that are fun even in the base and S models. The cayman was a very fun car. After the 997, the 911 was no longer Porsche's sports car. It's the Cayman. I think over the years, they've been pushing the Cayman into the void that the 911 has left. The GT4 RS is interesting because it's probably going to be their most exciting car ever, I do feel like they're really going to struggle to convince people to pay an extra 40k for a GT3 RS when the GT4 RS is probably going to to tick everything that audience wants. When the non GT cars went turbo charged, they lost their character. Even the turbo itself is touted to be boring. If you want a fast 0-60, honestly, get a electric car.

Tony is correct with Tesla. The build quality is terrible and Lord help you if it ever breaks or gets in an accident. Very little support for the cars. watch Rich Rebuilds for more insight

Assuming the Aston that Tony drove down to London and back,is on trade plates (as it's a stock car so won't be registered to an owner) Is that actually allowed (I thought a car on trade plates could only be used for test drives and going to / from the collection, handover / to and from a garage appointment.

My wife drove a 5 series after passing her test! Yes to the alpina. BMW tech is just literally the best and you’d do well to keep the x3!

The 911 gets a lion's share of 'conservative-natured' folks to a very high level of driving in the safest manner building confidence more readily than any other sports car on the market. Those folks have a lot of financial ability. That is the non GT 911s genius, and why it will always sell.

The best case ever of a product not living up to the hype is....... Corvette. They never come close to their hype. The new platform, the C8, advertised with times that it simply will not do. They claim it has a monstrous acceleration, the onboard computer even verifies it, but when it finally got over to Europe where they run on higher octane and the Z51 track pack, even then, it will not go below 3.6 seconds 0-60. TopGear even said realistically its closer to 4. But they claim it will do 2.8. Which is a huge difference. 2.8 is hypercar territory.

As a car guy we place value on things most ppl don't. All we care about are looks and drivability and although the B% has both just look what happens to all Alpina products after 2 years. They fall apart and lose so much value. You do have to be somewhat sensible even as a passionate petrol head.

Go for Tony’s X5 30d. You literally don’t need any more than that on the road. The alpina touring is a clever, clever choice I grant you. And will hold money if you DONT put miles on it. X530d will get you 40mpg on a run and is so comfy. And turbo diese is a nice way to drive on uk roads. RWD based chasis FYI.

I ve had many cars. To live with, the X5 with the tech, the split tail gate, the comfort. Just the bomb. Do like the Alpina touring idea though.
