The first time I can remember hearing the "Cripple Creek" tune you were playing was played by Ms. Roni Stoneman of the The Stoneman Family in the early '60s on WSM-TV in Nashville, TN. Young Lady, you certainly brought back some Pleasant Memories. THANK YOU.

I like Bixby. I love the mellow tone. It has five strings tuned to a G-major chord (cittern tuning), with the fifth drone string shortened a minor third above the first. That qualifies as a banjo. I failed at banjo in my youth because I started in Scruggs -style. I should have started with a more basic bluegrass style and worked up. When I got back into banjo I played Kentucky two-finger thumb lead. Sadly, I was working through a lot of musical experiments at the time and moved on too quickly. I've gone through woodwinds and am now playing horns. The concert mellophone is my favorite. You need a flush fret banjo, because . . . it's flush fret. I like walnut with maple frets, but cherry is also good if you want a more subtle contrast.

Quiet a renovation to your room. All the banjos sounded unique to their build, but my favorite sounding one was Bartholomew. It is fun to watch a young person being so enthusistic about his/her life. Make an old man feel good again just to hear you play.

Ferny for the fiddle🙂 Cool banjos!

Happy New Year, Dear Phoebe! I also have a tendency to neglect my fiddle, when there are banjos to play. Maybe our resolution should be “no neglecting Fred the Fiddle!” ❤❤❤

Try some Nylgut strings on your fretless (which I think may be a kit banjo from maybe 30 or so years ago). Also, I suggest Francyne for your fiddle, or possibly Francesca.

Love the new set-up. The pops of green in the room testify to the life-giving power of good music. Can't wait to hear all the different banjos singing out in 2024!

Awesome!, I really love the wall. Remember even cheap old banjos have a place in our music and hearts . Keep going kiddo your learning and growing. The old traditional banjo music was played for decades on instruments with quality we would laugh at today. Frail on Phoebe.

I find it a delightful treat for listen to you play and your fun personality. I sew and am delighted with your new hat venture. I have liked the name Felix you might consider it for the new banjo 🪕 Although Ferdy or Ferdie could be appealing. Fern? I’m weak on my musical vocabulary, I think of searching for a bass sounding notation or something of that description. I should stick with Felix to be safe, if course Felix Mendelssohn didn’t use banjos. Another Felix?? Your playful speech inspires me 🤗♥️

I am so happy for you! Love the variety of banjos that have come your way and especially that crazy hexagon fretless banjo! I have been taking a whack at fretless myself this past year, and it's so much fun but a challenge for sure. I love your zest! Brilliant!

Wow, that's such a cool Hexagon banjo! The slides sound awesome. Out of everything I watch, your banjo videos make me smile the biggest. You've brought much positivity to a sometimes meh past year. Some F names for a fine fiddle: Farnsworth, Francine, Frankie?

I think I remember the plunky one being offered as a kit back maybe 30-35 years ago. It was a way to build a banjo for someone with more basic skills.

Happy new year pheobe. Well done on the banjos. Seen Clifton Hicks make a hex banjo but with a goat skin head. You should check out his channel if you haven't already ... can't believe you haven't to be honest, but still ... Good new year to you and yours. And look forward to seeing play your new banjos in the year to come 🖒

8K subscribers and all of them well deserved. If you really want to feel good, see how many subscribers Alison Brown has. Also, as a woodworker, the hexagon banjo - hexanjo? - looks like something I would make if I were to make a banjo.
