A great review, thank you !!! I have watched lots of volume pedal reviews, and I am very greatful that you have described the Behringer volume pedal in straight forward terms that dont confuse matters with technical specifications that I can't really relate to. And until now I have only been able to speculate that a dual input volume pedal, will allow me to plug in my acoustic and electric guitar via one volume pedal. No one else has stated that this would be possible. Thanks for clarifying this, as well as confirming its capabilities and build quality. Kind regards Ian Harvey

***Attention*** This DOES work with a standard 9v power brick or power supply. It was doing my head in trying to work out why I could not get any of my 12V power supply cables to work. (By the way I also hooked up my battery connection using an adapter from my 'Spot 1' brick to connect from the battery terminal to my brick, as you have in this video. It worked fine, but the wiring was cumbersome - I was about to drill into the pedal to keep it neat until I worked this out). Eventually I did find a 12v power supply that would work. It had the exact same specifications as the 7 others that didn't. So I knew it wasn't a faulty pedal (as I had assumed). The difference between the power supplies was the POLARITY. So.... In my 'Spot 1' brick package I found a polarity adapter. Voila! It worked. My Spot 1 brick has options for 12V and 9v. The pedal worked on both. Therefore you will just need a polarity adapter (looks like a small cable extension but obviously makes the inside hole positive instead of negative - or vise versa) and your standard 9v brick should work. Would have saved me a lot of time if the pedal instructions mentioned this!!!

Thank you for the review! This helped a lot on which pedal to buy because they pretty much all sound the same and I liked the explanation of all the features as well as knowing that it is powered by a 12 volt adaptor opposed to a 9 volt adaptor.

I would like to convey to you that you most certainly made the feature functionality of this product crystal clear. I have looked at other videos relating to products that left me "dazed and confused." As a newbie, I was looking for a straight forward product to bring the lead guitarists volume to the front during solos and this will do the trick. Thank you for keeping it "KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid) for the newbies out here! AND "The Price Is Right." Thanks man, much appreciated...

I had horrible volume loss, tone suck, and high end cut off with this pedal. I had to order a polarity adapter (which still hasn't come in) so maybe it works better once its off battery power, but as of right now it is only being used an expression pedal.

I've ALWAYS used a volume pedal. For one thing most guitars loose tone(mostly highs) when lowering the volume knob;so with the pedal you can play at a lower volume and maintain full tone of the instrument. Add a little delay and make some great sounding volume swells. As for dynamics playing live it adds so much. Thanks for another great review.

Hey Kennis, nice review of a rather obscure piece of equipment. I 've been keeping this in my closet since the second day I bought it, when I discovered that I had to plug it to a power supply. Another thing I didn't like is that the minimum position is waaay back for a standing guitarist, more like a position for a keyboardist. In the few cases that I use it nowdays is to control the feedback of my EHX deluxe memory boy which has effect loop I/O for the delay repeats (amazing feature) while using the expression input of the EXH to control the time with an M Audio epxression pedal (another simply amazing and full of uses pedal!).

Hey Kennis great review I couldn't agree more with behringer products they can be real great for the money, but I did have a question before buying this volume could I plug in the two instruments and run a mono output or do I have to run stereo outputs if running a stereo input?

Great video. Can you please tell me where you got that 9 volt adapter to power the pedal? I have been looking for one but haven't had any luck. Would really appreciate it as my pedal board has only 9 and 18 volt outputs. No 12 volt. Thanks.

Everyone here who is complaining about the pedal review: it's a review, not a demo. It's not labeled a demo. Go elsewhere. Volume pedals sound similar. I wanted to know how well this was constructed since Behringer have a reputation of not being too durable. Great review!

It sounds to me that you need to set something in the M13 - some units (like my BOSS GT-8) have settings for the external pedal "Normal" or "Toggle." Yours might be set to "Toggle." "Toggle" mode would be like having a "button" footswitch to simple turn something "on" or "off." If you are using a continuous controller but have the unit set to "toggle" mode, your pedal will act like an "on/off" switch rather than an "up/down" controller. If you sweep all the up twice you'll flip from 0 to 100.

I respect your opinion but I found this pedal to be a major problem with my pedal board. As a CV pedal it is okay. For use as a volume pedal, it destroyed my tone and affected the signal in such a way that caused me to think other effects had become faulty. Once removed it was night and day. I love my beheinger synths. they CAN make good stuff but I’m not sure that this is one of those products. Just another guys take.

I have one of these that I bought to use as an expression pedal for my M13. I cant use it because when the toe is down everything is fine, but when i go heel down, if I go too far, it jumps back to 100% and stays there. If i want to use it again i have to set the min and max all over again. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? I asked Behringer and they sent me another pedal that does the same exact thing.

the number ONE limitation is that it only sends out (from what i understand) POSITIVE 5v signal by CV - whereas many synths require plus/minus 5v or 10v even.... so just do your homework beforehand....

No battery required for Expression (CV) mode. (I hate batteries! They go dead at the wrong time. And worse, they can leak and ruin the device they are in!) I checked the manual (page 7) and it clearly shows a simple, passive circuit on Output 2 in CV mode. No battery! Manual: mediadl.musictribe.com/media/sys_master/h1b/ha8/8849703108638.pdf
